Dobseh gave me a new toy for my birthday - a flash and remote. So he kindly spent an hour tonight teaching me the joys of splash shots.

Today was the Seattle Food Styling and Photography Meetup. Kind of a smaller event this month. We attempted a photo reconstruction, and then got a little silly, thanks to Jenny.
We did some splash photos. English Breakfast Tea in a china cup. These are rather challenging by the way!
Strobist: 1-SB800 1/4 power, shoot through umbrella, left of camera, cybersync trigger, silver reflector right of camera.
Had a little time to kill, so found a picture of myself and decided I didn't like the way I looked in it. So added loads of paint :)
I decided to try some splash art this evening.
Components: grey skillet, water, Nikon R1C1 (Macro flash units), eye dropper, camera, tripod, 9 year old son (to drop water droplets).
Waterfigure and splash. The falling droplet is detected by the laser and start the timing delays to drive the audiowaves to the speaker to form a waterfigure. The droplet fall just ontime on the waterfigure and give an extra splash.
Gelo caindo no leite e iogurte.
Utilização apenas de refletor 500w a 300 graus, sem flash para aumentar o aspecto das dimensões e contraste.

The cookie splash project...
I was waiting for the Easter holidays to execute this... and I hope this start ain't bad :-)
PS : while arranging the shot, I forgot and ate the last cookie that was supposed to be cast in this scene. A date came to rescue :-)
First attempt. Not enough splash! I figured it was due to the size, so went back and got a bigger (and hopefully better) mug. This was the result :)
We had fun with splashes in the garden again, I thought I would have a play with adding a texture to it to try and age it a little.
Thanks to rubyblossom. and pareeerica for there wonderful textures.

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: This doll is COOL! Beach doll, duh. Skipper, even cooler. Mondo earrings, super cool. And I LOVE the Tropical Splash line because we got so many Tropical Splash Barbies in lots over the years. I've had this doll since around 2004 and she's still a novelty item to me. I no longer remember the specifics of when/where I got her--though I know it was around 2004 at a flea market, probably the one we still go to now. I'm not sure whether she was a bin doll or a separate purchase. I'm hoping to get her the right outfit someday. It's hard to dress her in different attire because she still has her awesome factory earrings! Ideally, I'd dress her in something with orange flowers. This fashion I put her in has some orange leaves, which is why I chose it. And it also has peaks of green which work very nicely with the green leaves on her earrings. I think she's really gorgeous! Her eyes are truly unique, a very special color combo, and her lipstick sets them off nicely. She has lovely tan skin. I also like that there is still a faint trace of the scent she's supposed to have still in her hair. This doll, like the line she is from, is really iconic to me. She is a special treasure and I love her so much!
This is the last photo from the set, I promise. :) Setup: Four 5000K 100 Watt equivalent CFL to illuminate white posterboard backdrop.
