Series of five. Splash Point is a wonderful area to view Kittiwakes. Unfortunately the winter storms have taken their toll. The Cormorant rock was empty this time but at least it was still there.
I've seen so many splash! shots lately that I wanted to try it too. I know, not very original but it looks like a lot of fun to do. And it was!! I'm not very happy with the background at this point but I was so happy it worked out the way I wanted that I decided to post this one and work on a better one in the near future...
Splash of water with green background. Made with diy flash trigger.
Serious fun with a few drops of water.
Another ufo.
We were taking family pictures at the park and their daughter started starting splashing water in the fountain! Priceless! Canon 5Dmkii, canon 70-200 2.8 Is. Canon 430Ex2 Camera Right with Photoflex Shoot through Umbrella. Cactus V4 Trigger"L" for large!
Also, do most people set their monitors to 1.8 or 2.2 gamma? Right now Im calibrated to 2.2 and I keep worrying about other users not being able to see my photography as its intended.?
From the comfort of my doorway, I watched the heavy, heavy rains come down onto the roses on my patio table. Made for an interesting afternoon.

I wanted to capture the power of the waves breaking on the coast of Maine after a storm passed through last June. I waited until a big waves broke in front of my camera and then pulled off several shoots. I was happy with this one!

Splash! is a special week-long event for merfolk and their friends, organised by Elite Equestrian and runs from August 16th to August 23rd.
It was a perfect place to take our kelpies for an outing and it's very beautiful. I didn't get many photos because we quickly got involved in a trivia hunt they are running based on your knowledge of mythical sea creatures. Yes, Google is your friend and we managed to win the grand prize. Unfortunately it was more suitable for females but fun to do the hunt.

Nossa, estou quase derretendo aqui em frente à essa tela. Eu realmente me arrependi de não ter aceitado ir ao sítio com meus pais. Lá tem piscina, oi.
Enfim, quem gostou do meu splash? Eu sempre quis tentar fazer isso e bem, eu custei. Isso não é leite ok? É suco de goiaba lol

Dobseh gave me a new toy for my birthday - a flash and remote. So he kindly spent an hour tonight teaching me the joys of splash shots.

Today was the Seattle Food Styling and Photography Meetup. Kind of a smaller event this month. We attempted a photo reconstruction, and then got a little silly, thanks to Jenny.
We did some splash photos. English Breakfast Tea in a china cup. These are rather challenging by the way!
Strobist: 1-SB800 1/4 power, shoot through umbrella, left of camera, cybersync trigger, silver reflector right of camera.
Had a little time to kill, so found a picture of myself and decided I didn't like the way I looked in it. So added loads of paint :)
I decided to try some splash art this evening.
Components: grey skillet, water, Nikon R1C1 (Macro flash units), eye dropper, camera, tripod, 9 year old son (to drop water droplets).
Gelo caindo no leite e iogurte.
Utilização apenas de refletor 500w a 300 graus, sem flash para aumentar o aspecto das dimensões e contraste.

The cookie splash project...
I was waiting for the Easter holidays to execute this... and I hope this start ain't bad :-)
PS : while arranging the shot, I forgot and ate the last cookie that was supposed to be cast in this scene. A date came to rescue :-)

Another image from the base of the falls taken at dawn a couple of weeks ago. I only realised there was a big drop of water on the bottom right after I got home.
Layers used for this image (experiment in PP):
Levels : increase contrast
Vibrance :
Colour balance layer ; reds boosted
Colour balance layer : greens boosted
Levels layer : whites brightened
All layers merged :
Soft light layer with gaussian blur +30 at 60% opacity ( from memory)
Soft light layer: high pass filter.
Resize border etc
First attempt. Not enough splash! I figured it was due to the size, so went back and got a bigger (and hopefully better) mug. This was the result :)
We had fun with splashes in the garden again, I thought I would have a play with adding a texture to it to try and age it a little.
Thanks to rubyblossom. and pareeerica for there wonderful textures.
