What an honor to be one of the first 2 featured stampers for the SSS Flickr Challenges! Only took me a minute to pick which of my favorite techniques to use for Challenge 63 www.flickr.com/groups/simonsaysstamp/discuss/721576756316... & that's because emboss resist is my old standby. This time I did a little twist by using colored embossing powders instead of black or white. The greeting is an old one by Hero Arts. Details on My Blog. Made a card for an early January birthday. Used a SSS snowflake. Covered with Stickels. And a Hero Arts skating girl. The envelope is made with an Envelope Punch Board.

I have a winter wonderland style card to share today using The Greeting Farm & Simon Says Stamp #STAMPtember set. Isn't this guy just adorable - hand in pocket and that raised eyebrow gives so much character to the image! I paired him with a colourful snowy sky using Daniel Smith watercolours 🎨❄️

Dies – Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle, stitched slopes and hills, village, christmas blessings; Card – Bazzill white, Neenah solar white 80lb; Paper – Basic Grey aspen frost 6×6; Copics – E51 E53 E57 E59 YG95 YG99; Ranger Star Dust Stickles; Twine

I love these earthy colours and you see them a lot on social media, graphic design and home decor. They may not be the traditional colours for a card using hearts, but it is nice to veer away from the norm. Today's video is a two-for-one using a hearts die cut panel that I've seen used in a variety of ways, but I wanted to use it with a watercoloured piece after a few swatches on my desk kept catching my attention😃

Tulips are one of my favourite flowers. Possibly they might even hit the number one spot. I pulled on my experience from a ‘the 100-Day Project‘ I attempted a while back when painting this. This card is the fourth in my easy watercolour backgrounds series. I have so many ideas for this series! This particular card was inspired after a trip to an art gallery and a picture by Philip Reeves which played around with a triptych and swatch design. I love creating swatches, particularly graduated blocks of colour that give the paint a work out from it’s deepest hues to barest of highlights and had great fun translating that into a clean and simple card.

One of the things I love about die-cuts is that they have an immediate wow factor and add lovely texture too. A good die-cut, in my opinion, can create magic simply by being cut from a white or ivory card. The die-cut holds the design of the card together, in particular when you have one where all the design has been done for you such as this snowflake die.
