I think this Pretty Peonies Background stamp is my favourite from the recent Simon Says Stamp release. I used it before for a bright, loose watercoloured background with white heat embossing, but for today I wanted to use my favourite muted colour palette and some no-line watercolouring. Do you like watercoloured, vintage-styled Christmas cards? It is a style I love this year. I think it stems from how much I am enjoying the Distress line from Tim Holtz, and the makers he employs to showcase the new products always inspire me. Did you see the recent YouTube Live where Tim showcased the new Lumberjack Plaid Distress colour? The gentle shabby chic of Stacy Hutchinson always inspires me, and did you see the gorgeous tags and whatnot that Zoe Hillman did? Fabulous!

Here is my project for the Always Fun Challenges blog and also the SSS Flickr Challenge #80. The sentiment is from the Thankful Heart set from SSS which was part of the November 2016 card kit. I love the traditional blues and reds of a nautical theme but sometimes its nice to mute things down a touch with a softer palette. I'm using both the negative and positive of the classic Sailboat die in the July Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp ⛵

Hello again, and Happy New Year! I'm starting the year as I mean to go on by sticking to what I know and love. A beautiful botanical image and a set of paints make me so happy; that is what 2023 will be about for me. Doing what is right for my family and me. I continue to take the pressure off myself to post on social media. Maybe what I will share will be me puddling around with paints with no plan or finished project in mind. All on one card - stamping, foiling, die-cutting, stencilling, dry embossing ... this card is packed! It came about because I wanted to play with new foiling plates I had in particular the beautiful butterfly set which has matching dies too. Having got myself foiling I now can't stop!

I just can't get enough of these Simon Says Stamp Peeking Bunny and Chick dies! Here's another card I created for the SSS Flickr Challenge - die cutting.

I have another mixed media card for you today. I started a bunch of backgrounds off recently; First, I taped a few pieces of card to boards and started adding layers of watercolour paint as I went about my day, letting them dry and do their thing without being fussed over. As the day went on I added old book papers, fibres, crackle paste, die cuts, sentiment strips, glitter ... you name it and I put it on there and I had such a great time adding all these little details. I had fun arranging these stamped and die cut flowers from Simon Says Stamp - the shapes are some of my favourites for flowers and leaves and I love the clean design. I played around with bouquets and wreaths and in the end decided on the flowers blooming from a diagonal sentiment panel 😃🌼🌿

There's something about a soft gradient of ink-blended colours, and when they are in a Neapolitan colour palette, well, you just can't beat it as the perfect backdrop to some beautiful, detailed embossing 😃

Today, I have a video on my blog! I know, they are few and far between and I know a lot of people prefer to see how things are made rather than just the photos of the finished results. I am trying to fit in the time to make more videos and I guess we will see how that goes! I think if I made more videos my processes would speed up as I became more accustomed to filming. For me, one of the issues I have is that as soon as the camera turns on my creativity shrinks back in shock LOL. Hopefully, as I record more I'll become more relaxed too. Anyway, I'm rambling today, here's my card using the Falling Leaves Laying stencil from Simon Says Stamp :D

I created the sky by blending Black Soot and Hickory Smoke Distress inks into a gray card base over clear heat embossed rain drops. Love the neat effect it created!
