Here in the UK, we are seeing the first signs of spring. A few bulbs have sprouted, the days are getting longer, and occasionally there's a little warmth to the sunshine. However, it's still that transition phase; we haven't hit the full-on acid-greens of true spring yet. The colour palette is more muted with soft watery blues, warm greys and dusky pink-browns. It was those watery blues that inspired the colours for my card. When you are working with the soft, pale colours of early spring, I find that the best way to showcase them is with subtle textures and layers.

While I'm waiting (impatiently) for my Stamptember goodies, I decided to play with the gorgeous 'One with Nature' set from Simon Says Stamp. I love this set - so much fun to colour. I'm entering this into the SSS Flickr challenge - 'stamp it'.

I'm naturally drawn to Halloween decor which concentrates on neutrals, black and gold. I used Heidi Swapp color shine spray for this Simon Says Stamp gold gourd 😀

After resting up for a few days I was finally able to get back into my craft room today 🎉 I'm popping in super quick to share a card I made with the Tim Holtz + Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember 2018 set. This set is selling like hotcakes, and I predict it will be sold old by the end of the day! I guess that isn't surprising as the stamp set is gorgeous and it comes with four stencils too 😃

My entry into the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge 31. I used the Apple of My Pie set for those cute leaves and the Stitched Rectangle dies for my panel.

This is the completed card I made w/ the Winter Flowers stamp set (@simonsaysstamp). Love this set, love the card! Entering this into the latest SSS Flickr Challenge. Stencils are an under-utilised and inexpensive supply that we often overlook. For example, with these Acorns And Leaves stencils, when the outline is traced with a pencil, it gives a great starting point for clean and simple watercolouring. The pencil outline is just as good as a stamped outline, yet the cost of the stencils is significantly reduced compared to a stamp set. I have another card on my blog showing this technique, too 😃
