Notice the use of White for clear, and green for Caution. This was around the time where signals were starting to change into the modern green for clear and yellow for caution.

This looks to be like a calling on or ride on sight signal. Anyone know for sure though?

SNCF Carré violet (CV) signal

Equivalent to the carré, this signal is in general installed on the service tracks (except particular cases: backward movements for parking, exit from some station tracks...).

The closed carré violet commands the driver to stop before the signal.

Rare enough for H. Lefort to be worth noting is the shallow depth of the studio. On the other hand, why use so many extras? Many literally disappear between the left and right views…

We find the same texts as in "HALL DE GARE"

Train de Plaisir, Paris, Le Havre. Did you notice that the "N" for station doesn't appear, and that the railway workers in the painted canvas are locked inside the locomotive?

It's not a problem.

It's Lefort!!!

An ICE 3 and Thalys PBKA unit pass eachother on the bridge over the Rhine in Cologne.

The Thalys unit came on the track closest to me so I only had time to try to take these two shots before it was gone.

The signal on the left is Voie libre (VL)

The voie libre indicates to the driver that normal circulation is allowed, if nothing is opposed to it.

The signal on the right is Carré violet (CV)

Equivalent to the carré, this signal is in general installed on the service tracks (except particular cases: backward movements for parking, exit from some station tracks...).

The closed carré violet commands the driver to stop before the signal.
