Dragging Equipment, Grade Crossing, and Track Pan Marker signals
Track pans were a very interesting concept for supplying water without having to stop at a water tower and were used by a few railroads in the US to help keep passenger trains running quickly and on time. The track pan consisted of a trough between the rails which was filled with water. Engines that were equipped would have a scoop under the tender which , when the signal showed it was okay to lower, would be pulled down by a lever in the cab and this would allow the engine to scoop water at speed. When the signal showed raise the scoop the lever would move the pan back into the bottom of the tender.
Notice the difference between B&O's signal and the NYC one.
Interlocking rules showing the unique style of semaphore signals and sideways placement of tri-light signals which C&NW was famous for. Also note the use of smash boards and pot signals (the disc shaped semaphore signals).These are stop aspects.
This is a SNCF Voie libre (VL) signal
The voie libre indicates to the driver that normal circulation is allowed, if nothing is opposed to it.

These are interlocking signals showing the clear diverging and slow clear aspects. Notice the use of semaphore signals still in the 1950s.

This looks to be like the German signal which would mean stop at buffer or obstruction when closed or ride on sight when open

Here are the aspects for the different fixed signals. The combination of position light signals and color light signals to show train orders is kind of strange.
This is a SNCF Sémaphore (S) signal
This signal protects an entry of block, or the following track section.
The closed sémaphore commands the driver to stop before the signal.

Qui pourrait croire que, sur notre chemin vers Currumbin, cette statue est en bordure de route. Elle signale la présence d'un café-restaurant. Il est presque midi, et il n'y a personne sur le parking. Je ne sais si j'aurais aimé mettre les pieds dans cet endroit. A vrai dire, l'accueil est assez particulier, à voir la statue du lion dans le fond. On est au pays d'Oz sans doute...

What an awesome find on our way back to Currumbin. This statue stands besides the secondary road, showing there is a café-restaurant behind. It's quite noon, and I do not see any car parked. I do not know if I'd liked to go indoor. To tell the truth, this is an awesome place you know. How it can be at night! With a lion's statue in the background. Maybe we are in the World of Oz.
