Hasta la vista 2009...

-- a year of new friendships, fresh discoveries, awesome moments, some not so pleasant vibrations.... but otherwise a good year for me. I thank each one who made me feel special in this virtual world of flickr, where photographs are the faces we present. Just like in real life... we are not 100 % presentable all the time. And some of you are like real-life friends, still there, bearing with my moods, idiosyncrasies... hormones LOL.

Looking forward to another year with you...

In The Light Of A Setting Sun....

Every once in while I like to pour through my photo archives looking for the one or two that got away, yesterday was one of those days; I pulled several images that on second sight caught my eye. I will post two today and perhaps when I have time post a few of the others. Each is wonderful in its own right and can stand on its own as a strong image. I love images that tell a visual story that really do not depend on a lot of explanation.

this photo taken at the beginning of November while on a photo hike to Heart Lake Conservation area. for this shot i had found a shaded place to sit on a bench under this tree when the setting sun broke through the branches and lit up the area in glorious fractured rays of light. luckily i had my camera at the ready to capture this incredible scene.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

Wide angle image of the Parthenon as the sun sets. The Parthenon is a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, that was dedicated to the goddess Athena during the fifth century BC. It is currently undergoing some restoration work to return it to its former glory.

Kamloops Lake

Tobiano, B.C.

I drove out to this location thinking I'd get a nice sunset shot but it became evident that it wasn't a good place after all. So I turned my back to the setting sun and, instead, shot its final warm rays lighting up Battle Bluff. Beyond the bluff are the cool looking peaks of Mt. Paul and Mt. Peter at Kamloops, about 22 km away.

I am really happy that I reacted early enough when this storm cell moved in our direction, because after just half an hour everything was over again.

The setting sun also provided a nice play of colors.

I am posting this image of pink geraniums photographed as the sun was setting over Cherrybrook, in northern Sydney.

Imagine the setting sun over the battlefields of the First World War. A catastrophic war and a life-changing, if not life-ending, war for all those brave soldiers.

Cheers from Sydney on 11/11/2020.

This was taken this evening. I had actually turned around and headed back home as I thought the sunset was going to fizzle out. Boy, was I wrong!

Walking The Uncommon Path....

In November Karen and I took the opportunity to hike through the woods to the water falls at Hilton Falls Conservation area.

As we were leaving the falls i looked back to see the sun behind us breaking through the trees it was absolutely stunning i quickly snapped a shot hoping my settings were at least close i think i captured it well.

Sun setting over the Wash towards Lincolnshire from Hunstanton Norfolk.

I took some sunset photos during a mist over the ocean water and this is the result. The setting sun shows red just underneath the mist but above the water as it went down. A green camera glare is present in the photo also.
