Taken at my sister-in-law's house in Cotignac late yesterday afternoon. She and her husband have quite a view to enjoy!

Natchez is a port city located on the lower Mississippi River in Mississippi and is the seat of Adams County. It was a prominent city during the antebellum years, a center of cotton planters and Mississippi River trade. The John R Junkin Drive Bridge is a double span bridge with 2 lanes on each span that crosses the Mississippi connecting the towns of Natchez, MS and Vidalia, LA. Print Size 13x19 inches.

Due to over 400 wildfires raging in British Columbia, for the past week or so the sun has been bright red when it starts to set. In this picture you can actually see a line of smokey haze towards the bottom of the sun. Seconds after taking this picture, smoke enveloped the sun and it seemed to vanish from the sky. It feels incredibly eerie to see such a thing. Now it's raining for the first time in over a month but we need much more than a little shower. There's a campfire ban in effect throughout most of B.C. No BBQ's allowed, no smoking on trails or in parks.

One from the archive. Taken early evening outside a bar on South Goa beach some years ago. A bit of a cliche shot I know. All been done before. However, how I wish I was there now!

I stood by the water watching the sun set, subtly changing the colours of sky and water, when this solitary duck swam by and just quietly floated there. a moment of stillness

Beautiful times from the past. Late afternoon sun in setting mode. Pl. see magnified.

Simply another sunset in the Missouri River bottoms just south of Williston, North Dakota a couple of weeks ago (5-14-2023) within the Lewis & Clark Wildlife Management Area. Spring has arrived and the snowdrifts disappeared in record time as the temperatures shot up to summer-like warmth. I never cease to be amazed by how quickly the seasons change here, as if spring was at the ready in a runner's starting block simply awaiting the crack of the starter gun.

I've tagged this as "Williston" and "Williams County" but this is technically within McKenzie County to the south, for anyone familiar with the area, and it has only been included within the McKenzie County album.

I hope everyone has an excellent Memorial Day weekend. I have not been shooting much for I've been putting in looong hours and working toward obtaining a new pro-body.

Yarmouth Isle of Wight toward Norton Wall. Setting sun softens the light with a bit of haze.

We were invited by one of the Wife's guiding friends to see 'The Ceremony of the Keys' which is basically the locking up of the Tower of London each night. It's a ceremony that's been happening every night/evening for the past 750 years. I took my camera along hoping to get some good photos but as it turns out, photographing the ceremony is strictly prohibited. So I contented myself with getting shots of the setting sun on the Tower of London a bit earlier in the evening instead. The dark clouds overhead really helped as well!

A lovely warm evening walking beside Lake Huron..... we swam in it late this afternoon, along with a good number of others, on this Thanksgiving weekend. It will be a busy weekend, with the start of Pumpkinfest in Port Elgin (our choir sings at the opening), family arriving a little later...lots of things to do...and food !

I will comment as I am able...and I hope to catch up with photo postings too...I am far behind !!! ( and tonight's sunset was especially beautiful...... for a later posting) Happy Thanksgiving to all !

Thank you my friends for your faves and kind comments..

It was a golden sunset hour as I captured this setting sun over the gulf along Pensacola Beach Florida.

Despite the lack of leaves on the trees there is no shortage of beauty to be found in the evening. The warm golden bokeh in the background is the dry, tawny grass. As the sun set, the grass lit up brilliantly behind the bare branches of shrubbery and bushes. The beautiful warmth behind the sharp thorny grasping hands of the shrubbery made a great contrast I thought. It's as if without it's significant other, the leaves, the bare twigs and branches flail about uncertain. Instead of gracefully swaying in the breeze the branches move awkwardly about. Still, they bask in the setting embrace of the sun as evening draws to a close. Nature comes together regardless of differences or changes and unites as evening falls.

Driving down the Lancasterdijk on Texel from Oosterend towards Den Burg yesterday evening we were beset by a great rainstorm and then these sublime lights. The photo of the windmill 'Het Noorden' - built in 1878 - shows the setting westerly Sun; looking east, the other way a bit further down we saw this rainbow over the West-Frisian Sea. The light illuminated the window of the house beside the mill.
