The western part of the sky above the Grēgoriou monastery, Mt. Athos, as sunset approaches. The monastery was founded in 1310–1314 by St. Gregory the Hesychast upon a gigantic monolith at a height of 98 ft (30 m) above sea level (SW side of the Mt Athos peninsula). The monks are renowned for their spiritual work (noetic prayer) as well as for their missionary work (Africa). The monastery is dedicated to St. Nicholas (patron Saint). Shot inspired by psalms 93 & 97.
A high dynamic range photograph resulted from two exposures 1½ f/stops apart.
My ongoing research has finally brought me to a small village situated on Mount Laeng, one of the highest mountains on planet Jairi-5. The houses here look like pagodas and there are garglin waterfalls flowing into the slopes of the nearby gorge.
The sun was setting slowly behind the lilac peaks, adding a mystical atmosphere to the place.
An Artificial Intelligence Creation (Nightcafe)
I have never experienced a setting sun quite as beautiful as the sun in Africa last summer. This was the sunset along the majestic Zambezi River, Livingstone, Zambia. It was truly memorable.

Det var rönnen bakom ladan i praktfull blom som fångade mitt intresse men när jag kom förbi tre dagar senare hade blomningen förbleknat
What had caught my eye was the rowan behind the barn in full bloom, though three days later when I came by and had a camera with me, most of blooming has faded

The blond warrior prince, clad in golden armor, is sitting on his golden motorbike, as a beautiful warrior woman approaches him outside the ancient City of Gold. There are other soldiers there too, as well as flying blue dragons. Everything is shining with an otherworldly glow. The blazing sun is casting long shadows on the mystical site.
Created via Artificial Intelligence (Nightcafe)
Sunset as seen through the camera. The darkness was created by my Nikon when I focused on the Sun using the movable focus option of D300.
Processing done: Straightened the horizon, cropped to the aspect ratio of 4: 6, put the water-mark. Nothing else.

Mt. Olympus is barely discernible behind clouds to the left (South) of the glorious sunset. The mountain is 55 km (34 miles) away. It is framed by a fishing rod and by the tip of the cape “Akra Epanomēs,” formed by two converging shores in N. Greece. The sky appears to be all ablaze, radiating a warm glow in golden hues.
Mt. Olympus rises to 2,917 m (9,570 ft) and is the highest mountain in Greece. It was thought as the 12 gods' everlasting residence, according to Homer. The sacred mountain has long inspired a legion of poets.
Sun Passing Over Mosley Street, Manchester, UK.
At this time of year the sun is so low in the sky you can stand at Piccadilly Gardens end of Moseley Street and watch it pass across the other end of the street, (where you can see the building work). At the moment this happens at around 3 ‘o’ clock in the afternoon. Standing at the end of the street looking down you get this glorious golden light, causing everything to appear in silhouette with rim lighting around the subjects; an added bonus is how the light causes the tram lines to stand out. These conditions only last for about ten minutes or so…. The white patch on the right is a digital display advertising the iPhone X and is therefore not in shadow…..! Andy Rouse and I stood in the middle of the road taking pictures for a while and it was amazing how many people came along and stood behind us taking ‘our’ pictures on their iPhone’s; I wonder if anyone would have noticed had we not been stood there?
