My technique is alway the same:

Three exposures -2EV, 0, +2EV and then temperature adjustement using Lightroom and layering with luminosity mask using photoshop. Removal of distracting stuff with the stamp tool or patch tool. High pass filter to enhance details. Then saturation, contrast selectively control, dodge and burn where need...

DRI stand for Dynamic Range Increase. Three RAW files are used to achieve this. Rather than using a software like Photomatix for instance, I simply use mask to blend, my own way, the light, dark and normal shot with Photoshop and Lightroom.. To me, It looks more natural than the usual HDR treatment that I would normally applied.

Dodge and burn là où requis...

A car travels west into the setting sun in front of one of the famous mitten buttes in Monument Valley.

In this scene, the sun sets over Keokuk, Iowa while brown waves relentlessly crash onto a ramp on the Mississippi River. This shot was taken on the Hamilton, Illinois side of the river. In the distance is the bridge that spans the river between Hamilton, Illinois and Keokuk, Iowa.

The Mississippi River is a source of water for over 18 million people. This mighty river does contain polutants, however. As seen here, the river's water contains a lot of silt. But it's what you cannot see that is a concern. Among the many possible contaminants (such as mercury and PCB's, and fecal coliform contamination), glyphosate has been found. Glyphosate is used in Roundup, which is a herbicide used in farming operations.

Another sunset shot at this landmark of Kolkata. The setting sun imparting a characterstic hue on the marble edifice which is however not very apparent from the dark side.

Please do not post your most interesting/FlickrRiver images. I will delete them.

No post processing, except to soften, taken right from the camera.

The "Jumbolino" catches the last sunlight. Flying for Lufthansa from Frankfurt (FRA/EDDF) to Leipzig (LEJ/EDDP).

Here is a Maui sunset shot from the archives that I experimented with. Let me know what think. The photo was shot from the west coast on Ka'anapali Strip in February 2018. Of course, I was using my trusty Olympus camera. Enjoy and stay well.

Just as I was taking photos of the setting sun, a few birds flew 'past' the sun, almost looks like one of those scenes you get from the nature shows on the telly when they're in the grasslands of Africa.

All my images are processed to look 'good' on my laptop screen. Not all screens have the same colour setting so you may be seeing this image a little different to how I imagined it to look.

Natchez is a port city located on the lower Mississippi River in Mississippi and is the seat of Adams County. It was a prominent city during the antebellum years, a center of cotton planters and Mississippi River trade. The John R Junkin Drive Bridge is a double span bridge with 2 lanes on each span that crosses the Mississippi connecting the towns of Natchez, MS and Vidalia, LA. Print Size 13x19 inches.

One from the archive. Taken early evening outside a bar on South Goa beach some years ago. A bit of a cliche shot I know. All been done before. However, how I wish I was there now!

polaroid week day 2

I stood by the water watching the sun set, subtly changing the colours of sky and water, when this solitary duck swam by and just quietly floated there. a moment of stillness
