Pep proved his service training paid off the other day, and has earned his new patches. While we were out hiking, I fell. I tripped over a barb wire. Where did it come from? Maybe they forgot it when they rerouted the WFM area?
Pep comes running over to me. Stuck his face in mine. I petted him and told him I'm ok. He turned his body sideways so I could brace myself on his shoulders to get my leg up onto my foot. I then use my hiking stick to pull myself up. I never put my full weight on Pep's shoulders. Just enough to get one foot stable on the ground. Proud of my Pepster 💙

Today, 6 August 2015, saw the fifth Emergency Services Open Day at the intu Trafford Centre.
The event saw members of Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service , North West Ambulance Service and a host of other agencies and groups meet the public.
Despite less than perfect weather, thousands of people turned out to see a host of equipment and displays as well as taking the opportunity to meet the people who help keep them safe and secure.
The Force’s Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy was on hand to help open the event and meet the public.

Back when there was an hourly link between Basingstoke and Camberley, Stagecoach Hampshire 33072 (X972 VAP) arrives at Camberley station on service 10.
This fell victim to Hampshire CC's axe at the end of October 2011. It's hard to tell the exact sequence of events, but from the reports at the time, it seemed more of a balls up than anything else - Stagecoach said they couldn't continue it all commercially, but mooted a reduced service, Hants CC agreed and made other cuts in the area review, then Stagecoach said they couldn't run it to Camberley commercially at all (curtailed at Odiham instead) and Hants CC said they didn't have any money (at all!) either.
So, no bus. There was going to be nothing at all, but in the end, token Monday - Friday off peak service 100, with three (or more accurately, two and a half) journeys each way, was introduced between Camberley and Hook (where there are connections to Basingstoke available).
Now, the 100 is getting the chop too, with the last bus on 14th February 2014.

Esperanza Community Services was founded by Guadalupe Reyes in 1969 as a school for children whose learning needs were not met in traditional classrooms. It now provides an alternate school for more than 60 full-time students ranging from kindergarten to 22-years-old with developmental disabilities, as well as services for around 70 adults, including in-home and at group homes in the neighborhood. The center is predominantly housed in the former St. Columbkille Catholic School at 520 N. Marshfield Ave. Since Esperanza moved into the structure in the 1970s, it has received few upgrades and major repairs. A recently received $585,230 grant will allow for renovation to commence this fall, coordinating with the ongoing school year with an estimated completion by 2024.
Organized in 1859, St. Columbkille Church was located at 1638 W. Grand Ave. In 1899, the Sisters of Providence took charge when the Holy Cross Brothers withdrew and Father Dunne invited the sisters to take charge of the boys’ school. In 1907, the sisters also took charge of the girls’ school due to the withdrawal of the Sisters of Charity. Boys and girls were in separate rooms. The grammar school for the girls developed into a full eight grades and a commercial high school. Because of the lack of available sisters, the grammar school closed in 1971. The commercial school closed in 1969. The church, since demolished, closed in 1975.

This one is a 1946 ex United Bristol K5G. You can tell the body was built in 1946 by the sqared off sliders along the side, with radiused window pans below. All the 1946 bodies were like that, until, presumably, they had exhaused all supplies. Forthe 1947 bodies ECW introduced aluminium sliders within their own window pans. The arrangement most people are more familiar with. This type of window arranged lasting on ECW bodies until the last of the VR's in 1982.
Looks like there is an ex Bristol Omnibus highbridge K lurking in the background also.
This is the unusual combination of the engine and drivetrain from a Mini (including steering, suspension and interior) and a custom made chassis to create a kit car truck which you could build yourself. The design was by Richard Oakes, better known for designing the Nova and Midas sports cars. It was offered by Mechanical Services, later renamed into Indespension, from Bolton in the UK, whose main activity was manufacturing trailers.
The Jiffy could be had in various versions, ranging from a pick-up to a hydraulic tipper. Only around 70 were sold during the 1980s.

The cleanest Mercedes Skip Lorry, (MC14 GBN) in the Uxbridge Fleet after a three year old spruce up. The clean up included a full chrome polish and a respray of duller sections. Not bad for a three year old vehicle! This vehicle is also the first Mercedes Skip Lorry to get the new 'Flickr' sticker to the rear.
