Service 218 now operates Westhill to ARI only and no longer serves the city centre or Alford. It instead connects with the new X18 service providing a faster bus between Alford and Aberdeen.
47016 has come out of reserve to operate the service on Thursday as Solo 47080 was out of use at Tullos.

Although a very poor model by modern standards, not so long ago the plastic Hornby Ford Sierra was the only ready-made modern car available in 1/76 scale. This red one was found gathering dust in a box, so rather than leaving it there I decided to make use of it by turning it into a fire brigade staff car with some detail painting, transfers and a Herpa light bar. It would have operated from 1987 to 1997 and then been replaced by a Vauxhall Vectra, which will be an alteration of the Metropolitan Police version from Oxford Diecast.
First Potteries launched their 'Gold Standard' service on routes 25 and 26/26A in September 2011, the idea of which was to attract more passengers with the promise of regular drivers, buses that are cleaned frequently throughout the day, updated timetable information at all stops on the routes and reduced 'two-trip' tickets for these services. As part of the launch one vehicle for each service was painted in Potteries Motor Traction's (PMT) red and yellow livery, with another for the 26/26A treated in December 2011, to 'give the two services a greater local identity', and they do indeed look very smart, as is illustrated by Scania Omnicity YN05HCL (65027) which is seen here waiting time in Stoke town centre on a Newcastle bound 26A. Similiar YN54OCK was also painted in this livery in December 2011. 09/01/2012.

The Wild Service Tree is a relatively rare tree that grows across Europe. Its also known as the Cheques Tree, possibly because of the chequered pattern of its flakey bark, and its small round fruits are also known as chequers. Apparently chequers taste a bit like dates but they're hard work to collect and not so easy to eat. However, before the introduction of hops in the 15th century, chequers were used to flavour beer, which gives rise to the number of pubs called 'The Chequers' (although many pubs have forgotten this and display pub signs showing chequered flags and jousting motifs).

Here's the final shot I have of the lovely St Michael's Service Station when Butler branded. This garage must have been here for a long time and would have been one of those places where the owner felt like having a garage in his front garden back in the 1930s I suspect. The garage still exists in the present day but petrol sales ended before the start of Streetview. It had been Phoenix branded earlier on as can be seen below. Here's the view in the earlier Streetview - the pump island was still there at this time. The garage still exists according to Google Maps but fuel sales ended a long time back, maybe twenty years ago.
