Here are 2 signs that autumn has arrived-colourful leaves & acorns! (No one wants to rake up either one of them!)

Facing a somewhat uncertain future following the orders for new rolling stock Greater Anglia Siemens Desiro 360111 stands in the platform at Shenfield working 1N16, 09:18 Liverpool Street – Clacton, 5th September 2018.

Unit History

360111 is one of twenty one, four car units built in 2002 to replace class 312 slam-door units. They entered service in 2003, and are primarily used on London Liverpool Street to Ipswich and Clacton-on-Sea services.

It turned unusually cold here in Utah, dumping lots of rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains. In this shot you can see deep snow on the tops of the mountains east of Provo. In the foreground is the slope of Squaw Peak covered in trees that have already changed to a deep red color.

Well, September is starting well! Another glorious day, sun shining, birds sing etc, so I stopped to take some photos of the river on the way home. Just missed snapping a couple of topless neds who wandered into my shot and wandered straight back out again when they saw the camera - phew, lucky escape!

Here's another shot from last weekends trip back up to Rocky Mountain National Park after the snowstorm. The weather really is fascinating up in the mountains. Down in Denver, where I was staying, we had 4 or 5 days of rainy, dreary, miserable, crappy weather. When it finally cleared up, I looked out my window and saw that the mountains were all freshly snowcapped.

Here is 800105 forming the 1S08 0846 Kings Cross to Aberdeen seen as it races around the corner in-between Milton Crossing and Brampton on the Tyne Valley line during the weekends LNER diversions.

Thanks to Dave McD for pointing me in the right direction for this location...twice.

It turned out to be a great place to witness the rainbows that were constantly forming as shower after shower passed through. Catching a rainbow as a train passes is the challenge, for this image i have turned the colour saturation up to 11 to eek out the presence of the fast fading rainbow.

No sheep were harmed during the creation of this picture.

I will from today upload a selection of photographs taken during a September 2017 trip in Aubrac, central France. I will caption more precisely if and when necessary.

Tonight's Moon. A noisy shot, but I like the sky colour. Taken just after sunset, 300mm telephoto.

I'm slightly mixing up the order again, partly to see in Halloween month with a costume and to potentially break up the Alice spam (as I did the other one after this). Since I also did Belle afterwards, along with Anna this week, I guess that means it will be Elsa's turn again for Halloween itself. ;)

My local newspaper prints some ridiculous stuff - for example, today there is an article about a man who broke a woman's mobile phone after she dumped him (they actually used the phrase 'dumped him'). Anyhow, I digress. I often have a good laugh at the stuff they print, and the way they write the articles, but today the 'vent your spleen' column surpassed itself. This is basically a service whereby instead of writing a letter, you can just ring a number and they'll print what you say. The top 'vent' is as mind boggling as it funny - random musings about using the bus!

In case you can't read it, it goes:

' I am 70 and don't have a buss pass and nor do I want one. After all, why would I? They're not free as you've got to pay an administration charge. No, I don't want one, I have a car and will continue to use it as long as possible and people should be grateful, as it is costing the state nothing.

I really do dread the day when I will have to use the bus and sit next to someone I don't know and be trapped there unable to move as they moan on about this, that or the other. Then there will be people looking around thinking "Who's responsible for that foul smell" and when someone gets off, the doors open, the smell goes away, whoever gets off gets the blame. Three stops later it happens again.

Use the bus? - never.

BW, Gateshead.

Has anyone else ever come across anything as bizarre as this in their local newspaper? (I have, by the way, this is just the first time I've thought to take a pic - I might make it a regular feature of my photostream!)
