When remnants of hurricanes pass offshore, the Gulf of Maine comes alive with turbulent waves, even at low tide as here in this image from my On This Date archives. Chromed, lightened and brightened, HSS
I normally prefer a faster shutter speed, but here I slowed it down to get a sense of motion in the wings. It was a beautiful night of autumn light on the mother loon from my Yak.
