Metrobus Route 100 runs from Maidenbower to Redhill, a long route that takes up to about 100 minutes.

Scania N230UB Omnicity 6633 is seen just after serving Gatwick South Terminal.

In 2007 Metroline won the contract for route 7 and ordered East Lancs Olympus bodied Scania N230UD's for it. There were a new type for the company at the time. Subsequently no more have been ordered, but when route 7 was converted to Volvo B5LH's on contract renewal in 2014 the fleet was retained within Perivale Garage and operate on routes 90 and 297.

SEL803 is seen at Wembley Park and has been refurbished recently. Some of this batch still carry the blue skirt of the old Metroline livery.

18-7-2015 - APL Travel, Scania K340 (YT09 FLE).

Seen on the Southern Perimeter Road at Heathrow.

Scania's 995 to 999 came into service in 2006 with the remaining ten, 985 to 994 late in 2007. The first five have been altered internally and here is a view of the lower saloon - surely they are the most luxurious the Capital has ever had and these seats are made of soft leather with head and arm rests built in.

Scania's 985 to 994 have been left in their luxurious, former airlink interior with soft real leather seats and walnut arm-rests. See below for the contrast between the two interior designs.

For a numerical tour of Edinburgh's fifteen Polish double deckers do visit my 'Lothian Scania' set which includes photographs and a story for each of the fleet numbers 985 to 999.

Due to a fire in 2012 Scania number 989 is out of service and is in the process of being rebuilt.

Seen parked at Sprowston Manor Hotel new to Caledonian Travel 2016

Scania chassis purchases have dominated the Global fleet and pretty much the oldest versions are on Irizar Intercentury bodywork. These are, I believe, on K series chassis. Fleet number 1403 dates from 2005 and makes it one of the newest of the type. It is a six axle version and is seen on touristy route 39 near Faro de Maspalomas.

Route 48 was new in 1968. It replaced the northern sections of routes 35 and 38A running from London Bridge to Whipps Cross. In 1983 it was diverted at Leyton to run to Walthamstow instead.

Scania N230UD Omnicity 15134 is seen at London Bridge. Buses of this type were ordered while the company was out of Stagecoach ownership.

Lothian's usual practice is to replace Airlink vehicles every four years. Until March 2010 the 100-Airlink route, between Waverley Bridge and Edinburgh Airport, operated on these Polish built Scania OmniCity double deckers painted in light blue and white. They are fitted with soft leather coach seating, walnut fold-down arm rests and also having greater luggage space in the lower saloons.

Scania numbers 985 to 999 operate mostly on the 'local' service to and from the Airport, Service 35 which is seen here at Ocean Terminal. These buses belong to the first non-British fleet that Edinburgh (Lothian) has used (there have been tour buses from the Continent before) and their comfort and interior design are luxurious for a normal public service route, to say the least.

In April 2013 ten new Volvo 7900 Hybrid single deckers from Sweden were introduced on Service 1 and so the Scania's have some Continental sisters now!

Scania Omni-City number 986 (SN57 DAO) is seen resting at Ocean Terminal.

Route 79 was created as route 79A in 1952 and ran from Edgware to Perivale with peak journeys extended to Northolt Airport.

A few amendments through the years it was re-numbered to route 79 in 1987 and awaded to London Buslines. At that time, as now, it operated from Edgware to Alperton.

Metroline took the contract from First in 2011 (that would have happened in 2013 even if the tender had remained at Alperton with First.)

It runs with a mix of VW class Volvo B9TL's and East Lancs Olympus bodied Scania N230UD's although I only saw Scanias on the day I passed through.

Route 71 was introduced in 1950 running from Kingston to Richmond via Ham. This is bascially now route 371 so a few changes have happened over the years. Todays route started to emerge in 1968 when it was extended to Leatherhead (via Chessington) replacing part of route 65. It was cut back to Surbiton for about a year in 1979 until being reinstated to terminate at Chessington Zoo from 1980.

It was 1990 that the original Kingston to Richmond section was separated off to route 371 and the route became Kingston to Chessington like today, in essence serving none of its original roads.

Connexions Buses Scania Wright Solar (X98 Deighton Bar) An unusual sight of a Connexions bus operating in Leeds City Centre on the X98, a route usually operated by First Leeds. Stagecoach operates two routes on the Cambridge guided busway, although neither run completely on it as it does not reach the city centre. Route B, pictured here, use double deck vehicles and runs from Peterborough (hourly) or Hinchingbrooke hospital (half hourly) or Huntingdon Rail Station (half hourly) to Huntingdon Bus Station (every 15 minutes.) From that point the route the runs through Oxmoor and Hartford to St Ives. The busway starts at St Ives park and ride and runs through Swavesey, Longstanton, Oakington, Histon and Impington to Orchard Road, where the busway ends and the route uses on street running into Cambridge City Centre. There is a further part of the busway to the south of the city, but this is not served by route B.

The busway section on this route took over the path of the former Cambridge and Huntingdon railway - this last ran passenger services in 1970.

In this photo fleet number 15220 is nearly at its central Cambridge terminus. It is a Scania N230UD with ADL Enviro 400 bodywork, Stagecoach's preferred type for interurban work.

London United Scania N230UD Omnicity is seen in Ealing Broadway about to end its run from Kingston.

Route 65 is another long established route. In 1934 it ran from Ealing to Leatherhead via Richmond, Kingston, Surbiton, Hook and Chessington. In 1968 Chessington became the southern terminus, route 71 being revised to take the Leatherhead run. Chessington became Sunday only, for the Zoo, in February 1987 with the route terminating at Kingston on all other days. By June of the same year all workings south of Kingston were withdrawn.

Although an obvious London United route, Armchair had a long period operating the 65 from 1991 until 2002. It was operated from the garage at Brentford that was taken over by Metroline. Its been based at Fulwell since London United gained the route in 2002.

The Victoria Line is closed until 30th August between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central. Replacement buses are operating for this period.

Sullivans Buses Scania Omnicity is former East London Bus Company/ Stagecoach 15153 which was based at Leyton Garage.

Route X8 only runs one return journey on Mondays to Saturdays - towards Cambridge in the morning peak and towards March in the evening peak. From Cambridge it runs via Arbury, Histon, Cottenham, Haddenham, Sutton, Chatteris, Doddington and Wimblington. I grew up in Cottenham, and I believe this route is very similar to old Eastern Counties route 104.

In Stagecoach's "Greener Smarter Travel" branding is fleet number 15462, an ADL Enviro 400 bodied Scania N230UD.
