Today there is another big rail replacement on South West Trains between Clapham Junction and Chessington South / Effingham Junction / Hampton Court / Surbiton / Weybridge / Woking.
It has attracted some variety and I only stayed around for a snapshot. Well out its normal area is Salisbury based Go South Coast 8101, an East Lancs Olympus bodied Scania N270UD which is route branded for a Stonehenge Tour.
Stagecoach Yorkshire's Barnsley Based Scania N230UD Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 '15191' YN64 AOB, Can be seen on Queen Victoria Avenue, Turning onto Carr Lane, Assiting With the Service 61 to Sibelius Road, Prior to commencing the Park & Ride Service 22 between Humber Bridge & MKM Stadium.
New to Stagecoach Yorkshire in October 2014 for the Service X17 between Wirksworth, Sheffield & Barnsley. The Scanias, Was later replaced by the Alexander Dennis Enviro 400MMCs, Then early this year Alexander Dennis Enviro 400EVs.
Passing Devonport Park on the morning peak 36 this service having commenced from Devonport Granby Gate, the Scanias are the of the regular performers on this college service.
Who knows how long the Scanias have left some are starting to look a bit battered now, also showing off the awful advert boarding which has appeared on a large proportion of the double deck fleet to the sides the 'Every Journey Taken Care Of' slogan reduced to just the E visible.....looks messy and doesn't suit the 'Tramlines' livery.
This Scania N230UD Omnicity was new to CT Plus in February 2010 and is seen on route 388 near its terminus at Stratford City Bus Station.
Two changes are likely for this route in the near future. Firstly CT Plus have been awarded a new contract starting on 21/01/17 and new hybrid buses will replace the current stock. I am guessing they are likely to be more E40H Cities but I have not been able to 100% confirm that with a quick search.
There is also a consultation that could increase the order of new buses. It is proposed that the route will replace route 100 between Wormwood Street and Elephant and Castle creating a longer route. A link of this consultation is below. Route 100 would be terminate at The Museum of London under this proposal.
On Saturday route D8 was re-routed between Poplar and Stratford and converted from single to double deck vehicles. The route now runs via Blackwall Tunnel Approach instead of Violet Road and Carpenters Road and terminates at Stratford Bus Station. This is a swap with route 108, which now follows the previous D8 route between Poplar and Stratford International.
The double deck conversion has been achieved using Scania Omnicities released from the tender loss of route 64 at Croydon Garage - they therefore inappropriately (for this part of London) carry Metrobus logos. Here fleet number 969 is seen in Stratford. Go-Ahead has a number of their preferred Volvo B9TL's heading for the surplus pile (losses of routes 19, 259 plus New Routemaster conversion of EL1/EL2) so I would not be surprised if these buses are replaced again soon.
This older style of Irizar body on Scania chassis is probably still the most common type used on interurban bus services in Gran Canaria. Really a coach adapted to bus work.
Metrobus route 460 runs from Epsom to Crawley via Reigate, Redhill, Horley and Gatwick Airport. Here, a Scania N230UD Omnicity is seen passing Gatwick's South Terminal.
High Peak 703, Scania Wright Solar (65 Buxton). Operating a recently won tender which sees Centrebus operating in Yorkshire once again following the sale of their old Yorkshire operations to Yorkshire Tiger back in 2013.
Global is an interurban operator and a lot of their buses are coaches or dual purpose vehicles. It runs a quite a lot of Irizar InterCentury bodied Scania K series that date from the early 2000's, such as fleet number 1323 seen here approaching Faro de Maspalomas on route 39. New buses seem to be coming into service and I would suggest it is this type being replaced, as they are pretty much the oldest in the fleet now.
It is the time of year when buses can get filthy. On Saturday, when I visited Beckton, East London seemed to be punishing buses with filth particularly severely. Stagecoach's 15074, seen here on route 262, was not even close to the dirtiest bus I saw. There were some that looked so filthy I'd be surprised if people could really see out of the windows (although none I really caught in good light for a publishable photo.)
Just back from some nice sunshine in Gran Canaria - a very well timed break just as it got cold in London!
Global 1568 is one of the newest buses in its fleet. It is a Scania K series with a Carsa Magnus.E body. Carsa is owned by Castrosua and the designs are identical. I am not sure why both names are used.
Global provides services around the island, but not services that remain within the capital of Las Palmas. This bus is about to arrive at the bus station in Faro, where a number of services terminate.

Preserved First West Yorkshire 61066, Scania Wright Axcess Ultralow seen at the Dewsbury Bus Museum open day on the 13/11/2016 ...with fellow enthusiast and Flickr member Andy Burbidge at the wheel.
It looks as if 3326's passenger service days are over as she hasn't appeared in service at the start of the school term. She will most likely be sold or donated to a preservation group.
1152 was taking the engineer back to the Nelson Road depot in Newport and remains in normal passenger service. The photo was taken moments before 3326 was parked alongside the withdrawn Vectis Blue coaches on the left.
Today (11th sept) there have been 2 buses back to back per hour cancelled on route 1 causing large gaps in the frequency.
3326 was new in the Winter of 2004/05 for route 1 and is small enough to fit under the arch by the Cowes Red jet (ferry) terminal. At the start of 2015 3326 was replaced by new enviro 200's and was transferred to sister company Damory but came back to the island at the end of 2018. 3326 was repainted into SV green from Damory blue and entered service on route 38 at the start of February 2019. Before COVID 3326 was a regular on routes 38/39. Since Summer 2020 she has been limited to school routes and route 32 on Saturdays before being withdrawn on 28th May 2021.

Route 277 is currently part of the subject of two consultations, and as such is unlikely to show the destination Leamouth any more at some point. The first proposal is for routes in the Isle of Dogs area. It is proposed that from Canary Wharf the route will swap its eastbound route with route D3 - route D3 will run to Leamouth and route 277 will run to Crossharbour. This is designed to better match capacity to demand and several other routes (108, 135, D7 & D8) are included in it.
At the other end of route, a change in the road layout at Highbury & Islington has led to a proposal that the route will be withdrawn between there and Dalston Junction. The exception to this is the night service, for which it is proposed to be extended to Angel Station and re-numbered route N277.
Both consultations are closed but as far as I know there are no confirmations yet. Consultations usually lead to changes so it can be expected that at some time in the near future route 277 will run from Dalston Junction to Crossharbour, with route N277 running from Angel to Crossharbour.
Number 696 in the fleet of Guaguas Municipales is a Castrosua Versus bodied Scania N280UB. This bus dates from 2012 and is seen very close to the port area and one of the two main bus stations, Santa Catalina.
Global fleet number 1487 is a Castrosua CS.40 Magnus bodied Scania K series (I think!). It is seen here approaching the terminus of route 30 in Faro - this route is the one I use most in the island as it links Maspalomas and Playa Del Ingles in the south with Las Palmas in the north. It takes the fast route via the motorway and takes less than an hour as a result.
Arriva Castleford, Scania Alexander Enviro 400MMC CBG (166 Leeds) This bus is currently on loan from Scania to test its performance on the companies services.
In Gran Canaria, the name for local buses is guaguas. It's useful to know if you are there as Estacion de Guaguas is what to look for on signage for a bus station.
Services within the capital of Las Palmas are provided by Guaguas Municipales. Fleet number 548 is a Scania N94UB with Castrosua CS40 City II bodywork. The fleet looks very well looked after and this bus was new in 2002.
In 1968 route 297 was introduced to replace route 46 between Alperton and Willesden. This route 46 was unrelated to the current route of that number and ran from Waterloo to Alperton – it was in its final moments by the time the 297 was introduced and was withdrawn entirely a year later in 1969.
On introduction route 297 ran from Willesden to Perivale via Neasden, Wembley and Alperton. It did not make it to Ealing Broadway until 1984 when it was extended to there. Bar a couple of minor re-routings the route is the same today.
Vehicle wise, the route started up using RT’s from Alperton Garage, but received an early OPO conversion in 1969 – it was one of the routes that gained MB class AEC Merlin single decks designed to carry a higher proportion of standing passengers. That did not last too long and it was converted to double decks again in 1972, this time DMS class Daimler Fleetlines. M class MCW Metrobuses took over from 1980 but in 1990 it became part of a craze to convert to midibuses and gained DW class Wright Handybus bodied Dennis Darts. It was 2003, when the policy was favouring double decks again, that TP class Dennis Tridents came to the route.
Metroline have operated the route since 1998 when it was won on tender from Centrewest. It was initially run from Willesden Garage (AC) but since 2003 has been run from Perivale (PV until 2009 and then PA once one of those garages was closed. The remaining garage is Perivale West). The route now using a mix of East Lancs Olympus bodied Scania N230UD’s and Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B9TL’s. Of the former type, SEL740 is seen arriving in Ealing.
I have always thought London General was better positioned to operate route 57 than London United and I have been surprised in previous tenders that it hasn't changed hands. It has just changed hands on the latest tender announcements and will transfer on 2nd July 2016.
I believe it will go into Merton Garage and set off a chain of route moves to accommodate it. I am going to predict that route 77 will transfer to Stockwell and route 337 will go to Putney. I also think the rest of the 19's might have to go to Northumberland Park and the 485 may go wherever there is room. I may be wrong of course, time will tell. Only speculating...
Anyway, of the current order Scania N230UD Omnicity, fleet number SP20, is passing through Wimbledon Town Centre. The route currently runs from Tolworth Garage and SP's have only recently started to appear on it. This bus was transferred from Hounslow Garage in July.

Route 541 is a short temporary route between Kier Hardie Estate and Canning Town Station. It is covering the ends of routes 147 and 241 while they are unable to serve Canning Town due to Crossrail works. It has been running on and off for about 3 years.
I'm still not 100% sure whether it operates from BE or SI or a mix. This bus has been pretty fixed on route 541 but it worked SI route 474 on 10/08/15. Londonbusroutes.net, a reliable source, records it as operating from BE. There has always been some fleet interchangability between the two garages.
New in 1999, this is a Castrosua CS40 City II bodied Scania N94UB. It is seen carrying an advert for the local beer, Tropical.
Global's fleet number 1566 is a Scania K IB6x2NB with Castrosua Magnus.E bodywork. It was new in 2013 and is seen just departing the bus station in Faro, Maspalomas on touristy route 39.
Scania's designations for the K series are quite complicated, but a Wikipedia explains them well here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scania_K-series.
