Connexions Buses Scania Wright Solar (X98 Deighton Bar) An unusual sight of a Connexions bus operating in Leeds City Centre on the X98, a route usually operated by First Leeds. Due to the strike action taken by First Leeds drivers on the 13th June Connexions were providing a cover service on the X98 for the day. Fellow enthusiast and Flickr member james_1807 was at the wheel.

Stagecoach operates two routes on the Cambridge guided busway, although neither run completely on it as it does not reach the city centre. Route B, pictured here, use double deck vehicles and runs from Peterborough (hourly) or Hinchingbrooke hospital (half hourly) or Huntingdon Rail Station (half hourly) to Huntingdon Bus Station (every 15 minutes.) From that point the route the runs through Oxmoor and Hartford to St Ives. The busway starts at St Ives park and ride and runs through Swavesey, Longstanton, Oakington, Histon and Impington to Orchard Road, where the busway ends and the route uses on street running into Cambridge City Centre. There is a further part of the busway to the south of the city, but this is not served by route B.

The busway section on this route took over the path of the former Cambridge and Huntingdon railway - this last ran passenger services in 1970.

In this photo fleet number 15220 is nearly at its central Cambridge terminus. It is a Scania N230UD with ADL Enviro 400 bodywork, Stagecoach's preferred type for interurban work.

London United Scania N230UD Omnicity is seen in Ealing Broadway about to end its run from Kingston.

Route 65 is another long established route. In 1934 it ran from Ealing to Leatherhead via Richmond, Kingston, Surbiton, Hook and Chessington. In 1968 Chessington became the southern terminus, route 71 being revised to take the Leatherhead run. Chessington became Sunday only, for the Zoo, in February 1987 with the route terminating at Kingston on all other days. By June of the same year all workings south of Kingston were withdrawn.

Although an obvious London United route, Armchair had a long period operating the 65 from 1991 until 2002. It was operated from the garage at Brentford that was taken over by Metroline. Its been based at Fulwell since London United gained the route in 2002.

The Victoria Line is closed until 30th August between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central. Replacement buses are operating for this period.

Sullivans Buses Scania Omnicity is former East London Bus Company/ Stagecoach 15153 which was based at Leyton Garage.

Route X8 only runs one return journey on Mondays to Saturdays - towards Cambridge in the morning peak and towards March in the evening peak. From Cambridge it runs via Arbury, Histon, Cottenham, Haddenham, Sutton, Chatteris, Doddington and Wimblington. I grew up in Cottenham, and I believe this route is very similar to old Eastern Counties route 104.

In Stagecoach's "Greener Smarter Travel" branding is fleet number 15462, an ADL Enviro 400 bodied Scania N230UD.

This Scania N94UB was built in 2001 and has a Carsa body with the standard Scania Omnicity front. This 15 year old batch of 49 buses is still common in the city and by no means the oldest buses - beaten in age by the many Renault Agoras and Mercedes Benz O405's still running.

I bet some passengers are annoyed by the contravision on the windows - at least in London the all over ads leave the windows clear!

Route H91 was introduced as a new midibus route in 1991 running from Hammersmith to Hounslow West with garage journeys extended to Hounslow Bus Station. It originally operated from Hounslow Garage but was sub-contracted to Westlink in 1996 and operated from Hounslow Heath Garage apart from a couple of double deck school journeys that operated from Stamford Brook. The extensions to Hounslow were withdrawn.

London United subsequently took over Westlink and the route has generally remained at Hounslow Heath Garage apart from a period between 2001 and 2002 when it operated from Stamford Brook.

The Dennis Darts must have struggled with loadings as it received LLW class Dennis Lances made spare from route 120 in 2000, long DP class Dennis Darts from route 49 in 2004 and new SP class Scania Omnicity double deckers in 2009. SP204 of that latter class is seen in Hammersmith. The route quite often sees workings by newer Volvo B5LH's that are also based at the same garage for routes 116 and 285.

Lothian's fifteen Polish Scania Omni City buses are among my favourite buses in Edinburgh and here is 990 passing Queen Mary's bath house, beside Holyrood Palace.

Once upon a time - well around 1560 to be precise Mary, Queen of Scots loved to indulge herself in this the most famous of bath houses. It's built on two floors and was once attached to a boundary wall enclosing King James V's privy garden and sometimes served as a summer house or little pavilion.

Queen Mary had other ideas and during her 25 year reign, from 1542 to 1567 (her father died when she was 6 days old) she would often come here to bathe in 100 bottles of the very finest French wine. When attention to her personal hygiene was complete (nobody ever saw what she did!) the wine would be re-bottled by her servants and, on her own instructions, was to be presented as gifts to the residents who abided on the High Street.

Some Edinburgh tour buses often present this story although rumours that Scotland's Queen was also heard playing the Jew's harp while bathing here are firmly denied!

In 1984 route 180 was withdrawn between Catford Garage and Lower Sydenham (except for Sundays) and route 181 was created to replace that section. The route started at Lewisham Bus Station and served previously unserved roads as far as Hither Green. The route became a seven day operation along with an extension to Surrey Quays (or Surrey Docks Station as it was then) to replace part of the original route P5 in 1985. It retrenched back to Lewisham in 1990 by which time it ran to Bellingham.

It then got a couple of extensions, firstly to Downham in 1994 and on to Grove Park in 2006 creating the current route.

Metrobus’s London operations are now part of Go-Ahead London and fleet number 607 is seen in Lewisham. This bus is an East Lancs Esteem bodied Scania Omnitown, officially classified as N94UB.

This bus is a recent transfer between sister companies London United and London Sovereign. It was running from Fulwell Garage until 21/08/15 when it appeared on route 71. It still carries London United logos and is an East Lancs Omnidekka bodied Scania N94UD.

Introduced in 1962 route 292 was a trolleybus replacement route that also took over the northern section of route 52. It ran as far as Willesden at that time, but never as an all day operation, and had settled at reaching Colindale as the main southern terminus by the early 1970's. London Sovereign have operated this route since 1998 plus another period beforehand.

This bus is most commonly running on route 267. Scania N94UD/ East Lancs Omnidekka SLE57 is seen at Kingston.

Route 65 is normally operated by newer Scania N230UD/Omnicities.
