Bruce’s Coaches National Express BW67 EVN On A1 Near Berwick Upon Tweed On the 09:25 591 Glasgow to London Via Edinburgh Service
18th February 2022 was the day Storm Eunice battered the South of England bringing 125.4mph winds at the Needles on the Isle of Wight. Therefore the bus operator, Southern Vectis, suspended its services from midday until 4pm. Before and after this single deckers were used as they have a lower centre of gravity and included Vectis Blue Optare Solos 3803/4/5/7/9 and 3814 on a variety of rare routes including the 7 and 12 to Alum Bay, the 1 to Cowes, the 5 to East Cowes, the 38 Newport Town Service and the 9 to Ryde. Green Liveried Optare Solo 3813 was on the 6 and Scania single deckers 2004/7 appeared on routes 7 and the 9/12 respectively. After 4pm, some buses left Newport "not in service" to pick up journeys in other parts of the island, whilst others started from Newport. A blue solo on the 38 isn't that rare as before COVID the route 38 and 39 buses used to swap between each journey. Bluestar and Salisbury Reds services were also suspended for a time on 18/02/2022.
Closest to the camera is 1131 (HF58 KCK) a Scania N230UD OmniCity which was new to sister company Bluestar. She had left Newport at 11:40 on route 8 before being instructed to turn around at Staplers and head back towards the bus station. Down the line is 1520, 1587, 1617 and 1595

At Stand B is Southern Vectis 2007 (HF58 HTO) a Scania N230UB OmniCity in two tone green fleet livery. She only managed to operate the 10:40 route 12 from Newport to Alum Bay before services were suspended. At 16:20, she did operate a route 9 return to Ryde and another return at 17:50. A brief history of the bus in the picture 2007: This bus was new for Uni-Link in Southampton also part of Go South Coast with 2 doors before being converted to single door layout and transfer to Morebus. After a few years it went on loan to various GSC companies including SV before being repainted green at the start of 2019

Today I went to where the First Group rail replacement buses are kept on the island and was delighted to see First Solent 32767 and 32768 parked up which have been sent to the island in the past few days to enhance the Island Line rail replacement timetables - pics coming later today or tomorrow
From a week ago today, the last day of the Chelsea Flower Show. Fleet number 936, an East Lancs Omnidekka bodied Scania N94UD formerly with the Metrobus fleet in London that has broken the mold and survived in London, albeit in a part time role as part of the commercial services fleet. It is seen here having just departed and heading to Victoria on the 811 shuttle service that we won't see for another year now.
