The Canberra Balloon Spectacular is considered to be one of the best and longest running hot air ballooning events in the world. Held over nine days, pilots begin laying out and inflating their balloons on the lawns of Old Parliament House from 6.15am each day before ascending into the sky and creating an exhilarating back drop to the local attractions.
On the last day of my trip to Canberra in March this year, I got a wonderful opportunity to see this spectacular show.
This was on Christmas Day morning and was shot handheld as I was taking a dog for a walk. It was only meant to be an impressionistic view, which is why I shot it at f1.8, wide open.
Not so spectacular as Þingvellir, this location, where the joint between the European and North American plates is plainly visible, is a bit of fun. Europe is to the left in this shot taken from the bridge over the trench.

While sitting in my small dorm, writing a paper for my college science class, the police radio sitting on my desk went off, buzzing about reports of Doctor Octopus assaulting the CEO of the nuclear physics research plant in his office. I quickly scrambled into my spider suit and jumped out the window, off to the crime scene. As I swung to crime scene I contemplated my excuses for why my paper's late and why I had to cancel with Gwen for the third time in a row. Upon my arrival I found good 'ole Octavius slamming Mr. Business into his bookshelf with his arms. "Whoa there Doc! You didn't start the party without me did you?" I shot a web at one of Ock's arms as he grabbed my other wrist with another arm
"Spiderman! Let me undergo my business with this wretched man!"
"Now Otto, what did this man ever do to you?"
"This is the man who made me like this! He is the reason I am what I am!" Doc Ock exclaimed as he pushed Mr. Business out the window suspending him over the Manhatten skyline. "This man set of an explosive in my lab to destroy the lab and collect the insurance money! He bonded these claws to me! He created me!"
"Well that's a reason" I remarked as Otto tightened his grip on my wrist, breaking my web shooter and my hand.
I let go of the web on his arm and shot on into his face and another at the CEO, blinding the good doctor and pulling the CEO back into the building all at once. As Doc Ock struggled to remove the webbing from his face, I made hast, webbing Doctor Octopus's arms together along with the Doctor himself. I suspended him out the window with a web, leaving him for the NYPD.
I attempted to shoot a web to swing back to my dorm only to realize that I had run out of webbing. I proceeded to take the elevator back to ground floor and hailed a cab back to queens. As I rode back, I continued to contemplate excuses for my paper, my date with Gwen, and now my newly broken hand. What a fun day tomorrow's going to be.

Spectacular dramatic weather creates an amazing light show over the Mountains of Loch na h-Achlaise. The tranquil water of the loch reflects the distant mountains, islands of trees, and foreground rocks in perfect symmetry.
Lochan na h-Achlaise is a lake in Rannoch Moor - Scottish Highlands and is nearby to Black Mount, Achallader, and Stob a' Choire Odhair. Near Glencoe, itâs the gateway to the Scottish Highlands and not only produces some of the most dramatic scenery in the world, but also some of the most changeable weather.

Torcello is the most intriguing of the islands in the Venetian lagoon. The island Torcello is even older than Venice. The Byzantine mosaics in the seventh century Cathedral of Santa Maria Dell'Assunta are spectacular. The Byzantine mosaics date from the 11th - 13th centuries.

I was back at the Royal Albert Hall last night for the first of this season's Classical Spectaculars, 6 performances lasting until Sunday 20/11/16. These are official pictures, not mine, as taking pictures whilst on stage would be something of a no no. These concerts occur 12 times a year at the Royal Albert Hall, six in March and six in November.
One can consider the presentation of this spectacular hardtop coupe as an ultimate afford to gain attention of the audience to persuade them for buying a Packard. The financial position of Packard was terrible in 1956. But it wasn't much of a help.
Richard 'Dick' Teague (Los Angeles, 1923-1991) designed the Predictor. It was built at Carrozzeria Ghia, Torino in Italy on a Clipper platform. In ninety days the Italians managed to get this project ready, just in time for the Chicago Car Show.
The Predictor had all kinds of new automotive features, like tilting headlights, roof doors rolled back when opening the door, lowering back window, swiveling seats, dashboard design which followed the hood profile, a power operated trunk lid, and a wraparound windshield that curved into the roof.
Many car brands copied several novelties: the grille at the 1958 Edsel, the roof line at the 1958 Lincoln Premier, the rear bumper at the 1958 Oldsmobile, opera windows or portholes in the rear pillar at the 1957 Thunderbird, and the headlights at the 1962 Corvette.
Only one Predictor was made. It still exists and is on display at the Studebaker National Museum, South Bend, Indiana (see photo).

A rural Scottish home presents many delights. Relish the peace of the environment, the drama of the landscape, the luxury of fine local foods for a picnic lunch.
Spectacular show with the clouds, the sky, the sun and the Atlantic ocean as the leading role players. Shot location: Arco da Calheta - Madeira Island - Portugal. Photo was taken in 2006. Similar scenery occurs during this time of the year on Madeira.

..Every night
The horizon lights up
Swirls of pink and orange
Fading to blue and purple
Few bother to look anymore
At a blessing
That only comes once a day
Each sunset is different
No two exactly alike
Difference flows throughout
While it is the only similarity...

Last night (May 13, 2020) I witnessed only a portion of a spectacular lighting show that lasted for more than 2 hours. I was able to make a time lapse of it and these are some shots which I choose from more than 400 photos I took.
