First and foremost I want to say thanks for all the kind words that were sent my way about my dog passing away...very kind of all of you. Things are starting to get back to normal.
In my opinion this was by far the best waterfall shoot of 2010 for me. This place is just loaded with atmosphere, comps, and character. I love being down in this canyon and hearing nothing but the pounding of the water coming over the falls...

ARRIVA Buses Wales ADL Enviro 400 4409 - J900 ABW is pictured in Chester city centre working route 1 to Wrecsam Gorsaf Fysiau (Wrexham Bus Station). This is the first vehicle in the fleet to carry the revised Sapphire livery.
ARRIVA Buses Wales ADL Trident 2 / Enviro 400 4552 - CX14 AZJ unusually finds itself on Rhyl Seashore as it arrives at the Events Arena to attend the official launch for the fleet of new vehicles to convert coastal Route 12 to Sapphire standard. All twenty of the new vehicles were present at the launch, and this represents an investment of £4.5 million for Rhyl depot.
Appearances by Sapphire vehicles on route 700 between Chatham Bus Station and Bluewater are common and does break up the monotony of the Volvo B7TLs working the route.
Supporting a nasty scrape along the side over the route branding, ARRIVA Kent & Surrey 6479 SN15 LNJ is seen here waiting to depart from Chatham Bus Station whilst working route 700. Saturday 27th February 2016.

In its first week in service, ARRIVA Buses Wales ADL Enviro 400 4555 - CX14 AZO is seen in Rhyl working route 51 to Dinbych (Denbigh). As an unbranded spare for Sapphire route 12, this bus can be used on other routes when required, and here it adds a touch of luxury for passengers bound for destinations along the Vale of Clwyd.
This part of the NSW coast is characterised by relatively short beaches bounded by prominent headlands. Many are linked to small coastal lakes. Cuttagee Head in the foreground separates Baragoot Beach (immediately below) from Cuttagee Beach to the South.

No one has ever found out why, but Austin Crawford was born with the ability to generate a strange purple energy glow from his hands. He kept it secret from everyone except his parents for a while, until he accidentally used his powers when being mugged, punching a man in the stomach and sending him flying into a nearby building, hospitalizing him. After that, Austin left his family for a life of secrecy, and sought help at the Research Genome Biometrics Laboratory, where he learned to control his powers. He wanted to help fight crime in New Blok City, however, he knew his small amounts of energy would be no match for most of the villains there. With the help of the lab(and thanks to his knowledge in engineering), Austin develpoed a strong suit that could resist bullets and fire, and was able to conduct electricity to the point where it wouldn't harm him. He also created two shield-like devices, which had small engines on the backs so Austin could fly when holding them. They also were able to conduct electricity very well, allowing the energy from Austin's hands to flow throughout them, creating a much more powerful blow when he hit something. He adopted the name "Sapphire Quartz" and went on to help stop crime in the city.
Okay, okay, I guess I went a little overboard with the effects :p
Panorama of the Sapphire Pool, Yellowstone National Park. Some info from www.yellowstonenationalpark.com "Temperature 200-202°F Dimensions 18x30 feet. Sapphire Pool, named for its blue, crystal-clear water and for its resemblance to an Oriental sapphire, was once a placid hot pool. It was not until after the 1959 earthquake that major eruptions occurred. For several years following the earthquake powerful eruptions at two hour intervals reached 150 feet. The force of the eruptions caused the crater to double in size, destroying the biscuit-like formations around its edge, and the crystal-clear water became murky. By 1968 Sapphire ceased to function as a true geyser. Today Sapphire still retains its crystal-clear, blue water, and still violently boils and surges occasionally.
We went to the Bombay Sapphire Distillery last weekend, to sample the sights, smells and tastes of the gin made on site.
The two sculptural glasshouses attached to the distillery were designed by the architect Thomas Heatherwick - also known for designing 'The Vessel' in New York City.
This beach was probably the most wonderful place I have ever been in my life. The beauty in this picture speaks for itself. Sapphire Beach in Saint Thomas US Virgin Island.

Didn't think I would photo this in London before getting it in Hertfordshire! Seems rather unusual but apparently it's happened a few times recently. This is 6527 YX17NFE seen here in Marylebone on route 758 which formed the 1840 departure of Victoria.

While Dad minds baby, Mum and Son sift some soil brought in from the Sapphire fields round Sapphire and Rubyvale not too far west of Emerald in Central Queensland. You can go scrabbling round fossicking (permit needed first) in certain public areas or do it the easy way in the gemfields by going to Pats coffee shop. The soil, water and equipment are laid on in the shop, at a price. Did the lady get any Sapphires? Yep, very small ones but you never know your luck.
It's a fascinating place to visit, friendly I think as long as you read up before you go and don't stray onto private diggings. To have a good look and try your luck, it requires more time than what we could give it. There is plenty of accommodation on the field and paperwork to help you.
Tomorrow will be a few trains for those interested, the line east of Emerald, well Blackwater serves a large stretch of the Bowen Basin and its numerous coal mines, the rail traffic between there and Rockhampton where we had two nights was heavy.
On an elevated perch above the Bitterroot River near Lolo, Montana, I made this capture on a recent early afternoon, taking
advantage of some dramatic cloud action and the peak autumn
color that is now beautifying an already beautiful Bitterroot Valley. The Sapphire Mountains make up the background here.

I have wanted to grab this shot for some time now and tonight seemed as good as any. With the sun down, a little color was left in the sky and the water appeared blue. A little tweaking and sapphire resulted. I suppose it could also be titled, "Midnight Blue" because of the sideways "M"
