I'm a man who loves setting up a good hummingbird image :-)
Taken with natural light in the highlands of Ecuador earlier this year during some free time I had before leading a photo workshop...

This Blue-chinned Sapphire was one of several beautiful species of hummingbird that were frequenting the gardens at the Asa Wright Nature Center during our visit this month.

This is our pet Omar, short for Omar Bradley, a US general who served in WW2. He is a Ragdoll male, about 11 years old. He was on the corner of the bed this morning so I grabbed my camera and took some shots. He is quite the lover as he gets lots of love from my wife and I. He loves to be petted and frequently! If you don't pet him enough he will cry at me ;) I do so love those blue eyes of the Ragdoll breed of cat. They look like blue sapphire gemstones.

New leaves and tiny berries on a Sapphire Berry tree (Symplocos paniculata) on this rainy first day of May. The berries, when fully ripened, will be a brilliant sapphire blue.

I stumbled across these wonderful blue flowers growing in a strip next to a wheat field, about 6 miles outside Marlborough Wiltshire. Got no idea what the blue/purple flowers are, they have a strong scent and were covered in bees. 12 photos merged and then HDRed in Efex Pro.
This Blue-chinned Sapphire was one that gave me a bit of a challenge during our trip to Trinidad last month. It seemed like I could never really get one to stay where I wanted them for a good photo but it was still a lot of fun trying.

This is another shot of lily pads as they start to emerge from the shallow waters of Talawanda Lake near McAlester Oklahoma. I usually curse the contrails left by airliners, but in this instance I don't mind them too much... heck, they might even add a little something to this shot..... Thanks for taking the time to look and have a great week...... This shot really is better viewed large.

The dramatic blue-green flower spikes bloom only in early summer. The tough leaves are armed against browsing animals.
This hummingbird has hidden beauty. Mostly simple green but with white puffy boots and a brilliantly coloured vent they show off on occasion!
