The Telford Bus Group's 2236 has been a familiar performer on the rally scene for forty years, following her purchase into preservation after withdrawal from GMT service. One of only a few Mancunians to be treated to the "Jaffa Cake" livery scheme, she was rallied as such for many years, before an eventual repaint into the earlier orange and white over a protracted period between 2007 and 2008.

Sparkling London Transport RF/AEC Regal IV (MLL 991) comes down the hill at Rickmansworth. The blind is for Route 309, Rickmansworth and Chorleywood. It will go around the roundabout, back up the hill and continue onto Chorleywood. One of the many cracking classic buses out and about on the Amersham and District Motorbus Society running day.

What better way to welcome in 2023 than pop down to Gosport & Fareham to enjoy The Provincial Society's 'Ale & Ride' running day! Twelve buses took part operating 13 return journeys via Stubbington and Titchfield calling at 8 pubs along the way.

Retrobus: The Brrr-istol VRT kick starts the bus rally season this Sunday (18/03/2018) and is forecast to be another great (if somewhat chilly) event based in and around Winchester in Hampshire.

This year the running day theme is all about the Bristol VRT, a hugely popular double-deck chassis in production from 1968-81. Visitors are expected to be able to sample up to 15 VRTs over the course of the day. Details of the event can be found here: hampshirebuses.weebly.com/retrobus-the-bristol-vrt.html

Well, no, in fact, I'd completely failed to register that 4116 in pseudo Birkenhead colours was just about to pass the real deal and I was stranded further down the road in what I thought was a better patch of light. I was gearing up for a closer range shot in said patch of favourable light and then had to hurriedly snap away early as she passed the PD2. I ended up selecting completely the wrong focal length, with both buses miles away as a result. But, a bit of judicious cropping and hey presto!

Taken at the Museum Of Transport's Selnec 25 event in 1994. A Mancunian, ordered by Manchester Corporation but delivered to Selnec in full Manchester livery and preserved as such by then owner, Peter Watts. Of course, 2139 had two doors when new, the single-door conversion taking place years later, while owned by Norfolks of Nayland. But, no matter: the nearside view provides a tantalising "what-if" of what a single door Mancunian, that wasn't bodied by East Lancs, would have looked like when newly delivered.

2139 was later exported to St Petersburg in Russia, in a move that was initially only meant to be short-term. Sadly she was never returned and her current location and indeed eventual fate is unknown.

Peter's other Mancunian, similar 2130 (NNB 589H) survived in the UK and has, of course, in recent years made a triumphant return in full Selnec Central livery - now a part of the Selnec Preservation Society collection, with Peter one of several partners involved in the preservation venture.

The Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust provided today's entertainment in the form of a Farewell to Southampton's Red Buses running day. With the busy hub in Pound Tree Road, there were 3 routes to sample using 10 preserved former Southampton buses ranging from a 1951 Guy Arab III to a 1999 Dennis Dart. A great day out and a chance to catch up with a great many people!!

The Routemaster was there as part of the Worcester Park Running Day, 10th August 2008.
