DR661 is a Weymann-bodied AEC Regent III, a typical example of the large number of such vehicles that entered service with Devon General in the earlier part of the 1950s - DR661 was new in 1952 and withdrawn in 1965. It is now owned by the Devon General Omnibus Trust and carries period adverts that would have been applied to buses allocated to Torquay depot.

This internal shot at the rear of the upper deck shows the high standard to which Devon General specified its buses of the time - deep blue panelling and varnished wooden window surrounds, and leather-trimmed seat moquette.

Aqualand in Torquay opened in 1956, showcasing marine life including reptiles and birds. It quickly became one of Torquay's must-sees, but declined after the closure of the adjacent Marine Spa in the 1970s and closed in the 1980s.

Seeing as the car park where this spectacular vehicle was parked was empty, I decided to get right down to ground level and take a photo looking up.

Balanced on the bay railings and levelled by a couple of coins as this was the moment my tripod decided to fall to bits. B*****d thing. Overexposed in anger, twiddled with in CS5 in desperation...

an imaginative display showing how chassis were delivered from Bristol to Lowestoft for bodying. It has only just struck me how great the difference in size between the RE and the "B" it is carrying (for display purposes only, of course).

London Transport's first MCW Metrobus, M1, is seen in Brentwood High Street on its way from Shenfield to Grays. At this point connections were available between the X81 and the X21 between Ongar and Upminster. M1 was one of five that arrived in 1978, a year before mass deliveries of the type commenced, and these five had a DMS-style blind layout with route number and intermediate points separate.

To commemorate 100 years since the founding of the Devon General Omnibus & Touring Company in 1919, a bus rally and running day was held at Newton Abbot Racecourse on Sunday 4th August 2019. The event was well-attended by enthusiasts and the general public, and numerous vehicles were on display, mainly former Devon General buses but also featuring vehicles from other fleets in the South West and further afield. The event was well supported by local enthusiast groups and by Stagecoach South West, the successors to Devon General, who had a number of their own vehicles and staff in attendance.

Currently out-stationed, museum WMPTE Fleetline 4041 (XON41J) awaits its homeward journey.
