Pensnett Open Day 2019. More details to be added in due course.

Seen on the Hatfield Road on a colourful Autumn day is RML2323 on route 341. This is the 2010 St Albans running day.

DR661 is a Weymann-bodied AEC Regent III, a typical example of the large number of such vehicles that entered service with Devon General in the earlier part of the 1950s - DR661 was new in 1952 and withdrawn in 1965. It is now owned by the Devon General Omnibus Trust and carries period adverts that would have been applied to buses allocated to Torquay depot.

It has reappeared in Imperial Road, Exmouth, ready for its next duty as part of the Exmouth Running Day on Sunday 4th September 2022 - a route 5 trip to Woodbury, returning as a route 85 from Clyst St George.

The 9th Alton Classic Bus & Country Pub Running Day took place in and around Alton in Hampshire on Saturday 14th July 2018. The annual event is organised by the Hants & Surrey 'Bristol RE' Group who run 4 different routes serving 20 local pubs.

My shots this year were taken in Alton, Chawton, East Worldham, Hawkley, Holybourne, Selbourne and Upper & Lower Farringdon.

More details later.

XTA 839 (SN839) is one of six Willowbrook-bodied Albion Nimbus bought by Devon General in 1958. These midibuses would have replaced the cascaded Bedford OB coaches that operated in deeply rural areas after the Second World War. SN839 was withdrawn in 1971 and is now preserved privately in Somerset. It had a useful role at the Exmouth Running Day, acting as a duplicate vehicle for popular departures and giving everyone a chance to sample the different routes.

SN839 is seen here in Imperial Road, Exmouth, about to depart as a duplicate on route 59A to Littleham Village. At one time this was a stand-alone small settlement but has since been absorbed into the suburban area of Exmouth.

The 2017 Alton Classic Bus & Country Pub Running Day took place on Saturday 15th July 2017.

A look back at some of the vehicles that attended the excellent Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust's Thames Valley and Reading Vintage Bus Running Day, held in Reading in June 2018 to commemorate 50 years since the last Reading trolleybus departed.

Former D2646, the highest-numbered example of London Transport's less-than-successful Daimler Fleetlines, is seen arriving at Lakeside Bus Station whilst working an X55 journey from Gravesend. Despite showing Upminster Station on the blind it terminated here, with anyone wanting to go further being decanted onto RM 1361 to continue their journey.

In 1979 D2646 was one of a number of buses (and the only Fleetline, the others being Routemasters) to be repainted into a special "Shillibeer" livery. This was to mark the 150th anniversary of London's first-ever omnibus service, which was operated by George Shillibeer between Paddington and Bank along what was then known as the "New Road", now the A501 Euston Road - Pentonville Road - City Road. This was built in 1825 to take traffic from the West around the rapidly-developing and increasingly congested West End and is thought to be the first example of an urban by-pass in the world.

In March 2019 the Amersham & District Motorbus Society held a classic bus running day to commemorate 40 years since the withdrawal of London Transport's last RF buses back in March 1979. The last two routes operated were the 218 & 219 from Kingston depot and they provided a frequent service from Kingston and Staines/Weybridge.

At the 2019 event my shots were taken in Kingston Cromwell Road bus station, Weybridge The Heights, and Staines bus station.

A few words of warning on a rear platformed bus. They must have been quite fun in the day to run and jump on... but not if you missed.

A recent addition to the increasingly eclectic Ensignbus heritage Fleet is this former Greyhound MCI MC-9, which has been acquired for filming work. New in 1982, it later passed on to a succession of private operators and was withdrawn as a touring coach earlier this year. Because of its door arrangement it cannot be given a class 6 MoT which restricts its use as a passenger carrying vehicle on UK roads.
