Time flies, the days are longer and the sun sets another hour later from this evening (March 26).
Even though I don't think we need those extra long bright nights ahead, I'm ready for warmer weather. We have spent all day in our grand niece's christening. The weather outside has been really nice, but too cold for enjoying anyway.

Although this looks like a gentle trot this Black Bear was moving quite fast and you can see that only one paw is firmly on the ground. Black Bears can sometimes become rather tame, especially when they are habituated to tourists. But when you find one away from the tourist areas they are often nervous and will run for the woods. This one clearly felt vulnerable on the open rocky shore and did not stop to look at us until it was on the edge of the woods. This was near Zeballos on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
The title Running Bear was from a number 1 hit in 1960 by Johnny Preston. I remember a version of it was played in the 1989 film Scandal about the Profumo Affair.
The outbound IG2LA 05 meets the inbound MWCOG 08 at 5th North in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 9, 2020.
The longest train I've seen in awhile. Seemed like endless cars carrying coal (I think). I like the way they wrap around the curve and the red and yellow colors.

If you wanted to see a consist like this, there was only one railroad where you could find it. The last two operating SD24s in the country sandwich a gator as they roll north through West Bend, WI, about a block behind my house. I could see the tracks in the winter and spring before the trees leafed out and if I saw something interesting off we went in pursuit. Which on the FRVR was most of the time. This shot is from April of 1990 and you can tell that spring wasn't quite there in West Bend yet.
Sea outside Aveiro has a deserved reputation of being rough, and dangerous. Sportsboat speeds to port as sunset approaches.
