After the heavy rain that we have recently experience, water running off the mountains hence the River Running Wild!

This is a running media my son received a couple of years ago.

Super cute and a lovely memory

Getting wind of a very late running No 35 freight train about 9 hours late saw me at Andover to try and get a shot at one of the few locations I could think of with the correct lighting. When I arrived the sky was black and there seemed no chance of getting a sunny photo. However the train did a crew change and was further delayed and miraculously as I heard the approaching train the sky started to break up a bit. By the time the train was infront of me it was now full sunshine peeping through the clouds. Note it was blowing a gale too as the grass will attest to.

The foal was running around its mother, this Belgian horse. Belgian horses are a breed of draught horses, no longer used for working the field in Belgium. Well, some farmers do but then it is more as a kind of hobby. These horses belong to Hoeve Hangerijn, a farm where old and young can get into contact with farm animals.

I am happy to say that this photo was chosen as a group cover for the 'Point and Shoot' group!

A Sri Lankan boy runs out of the water. Does he have to get something? Did something sting him? We do not know. In the background typical Sri Lankan fishing boats.

Pulled over this evening a few miles from the TA truckstop near Spokane Washington to take a picture of some horses. This one took off for a short run.

Greetings from Thessaloniki!

I had a blast running my SPC 2-6-0 over the weekend. This loco has an RC system for the throttle, reverser, and whistle.

I was able to achieve a nice, steady, slow run and was quite happy to get a solid run in for an hour with just a few stops for water to be sure things were good in the boiler.

Here's the 2022 edition of the 'final season' of the remaining U30C duo and single C30-7 on the LS&I. It seems like every year the rumor of new power to replace them comes and goes. Of course, the rumor will eventually come true for these locomotives who are approaching their 50th year in service.

I have taken photos at this spot before at sunrise. I like the fence and path as leading lines and in winter, the silhouettes of the trees. This time a runner and his dogs came into view during the braketing sequence. At first I thought I'd reject the ones with the runner, but actually I think he adds something.

Cergy

Axe Majeur

A shot from the archives.

This is a unique falls, having 2 routes.

"The waterfall is named for Pitamakan, or Running Eagle, a female warrior leader of the Blackfeet Nation in the early 1700s, who experienced a four-day vision quest in the mountains high above the falls. Running Eagle led war parties on many highly successful raids, and was the only woman in the Blackfeet tribe ever to do so, or to be given a man's name.

The waterfall receives its nickname, "Trick Falls", because there are actually two separate waterfalls in the same location. During the spring run-off water rushes over the top ledge for a 40-foot drop, while obscuring the lower falls. However, as the volume of water decreases by late summer, and the upper falls "dries up", water continues to rush through a sink hole at the top of the cliff before flowing out of an opening in the cliff face, thus creating the lower 20-foot falls."

A Scaup runs across the water to take flight

Only two sailors never ran aground. One never left port and the other was an atrocious liar

This vessel ran aground in 1986, it could not be towed out to sea again so the unfortunate owner had to have it cut up for scrap!

Adapting to their environment. Running on ice, flapping their wings, or performing a similar feat on water. Simply amazing!

Phalarope are little arctic birds that are very endearing and quickly became a favorite. They are little guys, about 6-10” long and quite active, sometimes turning tight circles on the surface to stir up some treats from shallow bottoms. They are not shy at all and would swim and forage, and sometimes get intimate, right next to us. The typical pattern of most bird species where the male sports the bright colors is reversed in Phalaropes. Beside the switch of colors, the male is the one that cares for the eggs and young and the female goes on to pursue other males to mate with. These birds breed in Artic waters than migrate to tropical waters. The females leave first, leaving the males to care for the young. I’d love to see their chicks and imagine their first long journey south. (Female Red-necked Phalarope – Phalaropus lobatus) (Sony a1, 200-600 lens @ 600mm, f/6.3, 1/6400 second, ISO 1600.)

It is amazing how fast a Polar Bear can run. In this photo, the bear ran by me at a gait, not full speed, and the gait was amazingly fast. I'm thinking, if a polar bear wants a human and the human is out without protection, the polar bear will win 100% of the time.

at least 15 mph. Glad I was in the safety of a vehicle, however, the glass and sheet metal would just slow the bear down.
