Running a Fever
If you wanted to see a consist like this, there was only one railroad where you could find it. The last two operating SD24s in the country sandwich a gator as they roll north through West Bend, WI, about a block behind my house. I could see the tracks in the winter and spring before the trees leafed out and if I saw something interesting off we went in pursuit. Which on the FRVR was most of the time. This shot is from April of 1990 and you can tell that spring wasn't quite there in West Bend yet.
