The new four-lane, nine-kilometre section of Highway 97 between Winfield and Oyama is officially open to traffic.
The stretch was constructed west of the existing highway above Wood Lake, with a 100-kilometre-per-hour speed limit. Crews built two truck climbing lanes for slower moving traffic and installed a concrete median barrier for added safety.
The project included two overpasses near Oceola Road at the south end of Wood Lake and Gatzke Road at the north end, to connect the existing highway to the new one. Two underpasses were built at Old Mission Road and Lake Country Access to provide access to Crown land on the west side of the highway.
The ministry worked in strong partnership with the Westbank First Nation and the Okanagan Indian Band to preserve heritage values along the highway. Archaeological works were undertaken by the ministry’s consultant and members of both local First Nations bands, in order to protect archaeological sites found along the corridor.
The ministry also took all necessary measures to ensure that local wildlife was undisturbed by the project. Two environmentally sensitive areas with bat habitat were preserved, for the bats to continue to live in the area. Lizards and rattlesnakes found along the route during construction were captured and relocated to two newly constructed reptile dens.
Showing why the central freight route has been retained at Bristol Temple Meads. Why not at York, though, for example? 70005 heads a long Freightliner hopper working westbound.
Route 14 started on 8th April 2015. It's a new shoppers service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, linking the Applegarth Avenue area of Park Barn to the hospital and Guildford town centre on a trial basis.
The service is run by Carlone Buses. Their minibus AE53 ZKF is seen here in Applegarth Avenue on the morning journey, passing the junction with Hunts Close. After passing me, it turned right into Little Platt.
I've no idea where the terminus is, and what the exact route followed is. I'm glad I was paying extra attention and was expecting it to come from any direction!!
Nice to see more Carlones with the new logos on.
UPDATE: Route 14 was withdrawn from 24th July 2017.

Halifax Transit 2008 New Flyer D40LF #1135 is seen in the layover lane at Bridge Terminal. For some reason this Ragged Lake bus block 97 sits at Bridge Terminal at about this time and then does the 52 Burnside. I think maybe its because of the bridge closure.
This broke my heart. So I pass Mark below and come to this window. It just drops off into a canyon. We went the wrong way and the summit is out of reach. What I figured out was I should have stuck to the other tight rope route. I might have been easier. So that route traverses around this pinnacle and comes up this canyon. You climb past that small snow field patch near the middle and skirt the edge of the larger snow field above and go past the third rocky outcrop and turn sharply to the right.
This precipice provides a scramble route to the top of McClellan's Butte. We decided to take the trail most of the way instead.
The ergonomics and precision features of the OF 1010 EQ deliver a host of benefits which add up to an unbeatable tool. One-handed operation allows you to switch it on and off, plunge, cut and release with ease. The compact design and the efficient center of gravity make this tool extremely maneuverable. Its micro-adjustable depth control is accurate to 1/256" (1/10 mm). The OF 1010 EQ is also the lightest router of its kind—a real plus on extended projects. This, on top of enough power for all 1/4" and 8mm bits.
My old Light and Motion Stella 180 routed under the top tube, held by zip ties on either side of the cable guides.
The coil at the seat stay cluster is held in place by a velcro cord coiler thingy. The wire then wraps back around my pump to give it a nice line into the battery.
Although this lighting technology pales in comparison to the blindingly bright stuff out there now, it suits my purposes just fine and probably will not be replaced until the battery finally dies.
Tower Transit takes over route 444 (Chingford - Turnpike Lane) from Saturday 7th March, and will use door-forward Wright Streetlites. This is one of three routes that Tower Transit are taking over during the early Spring of 2015 (the others are the 212 and 488) and represent the Australian-owned operator's first tender wins in its own right, since entering the London bus scene in June 2013 when it purchased a large part of First's London operations.
On the last afternoon of Arriva London North operation, Wright Cadet-bodied Dennis Dart DWL43 from the Edmonton (EC) base swings out of Chingford Bus Station en-route to Turnpike Lane (it didn't get there, being curtailed at North Middlesex Hospital en-route due to late running).

Route 135 moved from Arriva London North to Go-Ahead Docklands Buses from 23rd May, initially using Enviro400s made surplus by the conversion of route 12 to New Routemaster operation. However new ADL Enviro400 MMC-bodied Volvo B5LH hybrids were ordered for the route and have now started to arrive, with EHV3 entering service in the last few days. It is seen at the Liverpool Street Station stop in Bishopsgate on Friday 19th June.
