"John Lasseter has said that the idea for Cars was born after he took a cross-country road trip with his wife and five sons in 2000. When he returned to the studio after vacation, he contacted Michael Wallis, a Route 66 historian. Wallis then led eleven Pixar animators in rented white Cadillacs on two different road trips across the route to research the film.
In 2001, the movie's working title was Route 66, but in 2002, the title was changed to prevent people from thinking it was related to the 1960 television show with the same name."

Oct. 23, 2021: Stop at the California Route 66 Museum in Victorville, California. This museum opened in 1995 in the former 5,000 square foot Red Rooster Cafe building. The exhibits are constantly changed. After closure from Covid-19, the California Route 66 Museum is open Friday thru Sunday. One fun fact: The Red Rooster Cafe was used for filming the 1980 movie, "The Jazz Singer" starring Neil Diamond.
Continental Divide, New Mexico is the backbone point of a nation. Though it is not the highest point on Route 66. That honor goes to Brannigan Park on old Route 66 between Bellemont and Parks, Arizona. The Continental Divide is a popular location and has been the site of numerous trading posts down through the years. In 1946 Rittenhouse says the divide is marked by a large sign and there are several establishments located there including The Top O' The World Hotel and Cafe, Great Divide Trading Company, and the Continental Trading Post and grocery. Today the tradition continues with an abundance of establishments designed to entice money out of the tourist's wallet in exchange for priceless momentos; wonderful souvenirs of the road.

Route 115 is an offshoot of the once-mighty route 15, which once ran all the way from East Ham to Ladbroke Grove (and, at times, beyond those termini). However the 15 came in for a lot of change in the late 1980s and the 1990s, including rerouteing via the Tower of London in June 1986. A Monday-Friday service continued to operate between Oxford Circus and East Ham via Bank, renumbered 15b; by 1996 this had been whittled back to an Aldgate - East Ham service (albeit now daily) and it was renumbered 115 on 18th September 1999.
The mainstay of the 115 since its renumbering has been Alexander ALX400-bodied Dennis Tridents, operated variously by West Ham and Upton Park Garages (the latter closed in 2011). In this view on Friday 6th March 18277 pursues 18210 along East India Dock Road, approaching Limehouse; 18210 appears to be running late and has been curtailed at Stepney, Arbour Square, the last official curtailment point before Aldgate.
