Should the story in the previous picture be correct) then here our 'offending' vehicle suitably attired for 'ghost route 610' ! Its a Trident (what else!) and parked up safely for the night. I'd imagine the fleet number was put up after the bus returned to Marine from . . . service 25 !

This Route 22 to Standiford Road is seen arriving at the Modesto Transit Center. After a 10 minute layover, this bus will depart on time today.

Arriva 3760 on route 490 in London Road, Northfleet. On the far side of the road a seat seemingly faces a fence. Over the fence however is a disused cement quarry, as there is behind the buildings on this side of the road. I suppose it was interesting sitting here watching the quarry at work.

Vermont Route 100 in Fall is without doubt the most scenic stretch of road....it was pure bliss driving on this "scenic By-way" on our way to Burlington from NY...of a total of 1200+ miles that I drove in 4 days, more than half of it was not on freeways...such pure bliss negotiating these scenic roads!

"Along its 122.7 kilometres (76.2 mi) course, Route 246 passes from Chiyoda through Minato, Shibuya, Meguro, Setagaya in Tokyo (called Aoyama-dori or Tamagawa-dori in part of this section), and into Kanagawa Prefecture, entering Kawasaki (Takatsu and Miyamae), Yokohama (Tsuzuki, Aoba and Midori), Machida (Tokyo), Yamato, Atsugi, Isehara, Matsuda and Yamakita (called Ō-yama-kaidō or Atsugi-kaidō' in part of this section). In Shizuoka Prefecture, it passes through Susono, Oyama, and Nagaizumi en route to its terminus in Numazu.

Part of the route – running through Shibuya and past the outer gardens of the Meiji Jingu – was recreated in Gran Turismo 3 under the name Tokyo Route 246. The same track is also featured in subsequent games in the series."

Route 243 users were promised new buses as long ago as 2010, however Boris Johnson's determination to get rid of bendybuses by the end of 2011 got in the way and the buses were diverted instead to route 29.

Route 29 is now starting to receive a batch of hybrid buses and the steady process of cascading the older buses to their intended home has now started. However a further spanner in the works has been Arriva's takeup of route 67 from Saturday 27th April, also using cascaded buses. This means that some of Arriva's DLAs will continue in service on the 243 for a few weeks yet until enough hybrids have arrived to complete the cascade. Appropriately-numbered DLA243 picks up at Stoke Newington Station en-route to Waterloo during the afternoon of Monday 29th April, whilst another member of the class heads the opposite way to Wood Green.

--------------------

U.S. Route 66 (also known as the Will Rogers Highway after the humorist, and colloquially known as the "Main Street of America" or the "Mother Road") was a highway within the U.S. Highway System. One of the original U.S. highways, Route 66 was established on November 11, 1926 -- with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, before ending at Los Angeles, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). It was recognized in popular culture by both a hit song (written by Bobby Troup, originally recorded by the Nat King Cole Trio in 1946, and later performed by such artists as Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, The Manhattan Transfer and Depeche Mode) and the Route 66 television show in the 1960s.

Route 66 underwent many improvements and realignments over its lifetime, changing its path and overall length. Many of the realignments gave travelers faster or safer routes, or detoured around city congestion. One realignment moved the western endpoint farther west from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica.

Route 66 served as a major path for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and it supported the economies of the communities through which the road passed. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway, and those same people later fought to keep the highway alive in the face of the growing threat of being bypassed by the new Interstate Highway System.

U.S. 66 was officially removed from the United States Highway System on June 27, 1985 after it was decided the route was no longer relevant and had been replaced by the Interstate Highway System. Portions of the road that passed through Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico, and Arizona have been designated a National Scenic Byway of the name "Historic Route 66". It has begun to return to maps in this form. Some portions of the road in southern California have been redesignated "State Route 66", and others bear "Historic Route 66" signs and relevant historic information.
