This is the last ocean related image for now! I still have some ideas to do and definately need to go back there.
Until then, close your eyes! Make sure you can imagine the sea's restlessness. The waves coming and going. Go further thinking about a person living like that. In a restless state of mind. That was what I wanted to portray in here.

Funny how, as photographers, we often feel the need to first forge and then conform to our own personal style. I've often read on the photostreams of others their declarations to 'shoot solely in black and white from now on', or 'work only with film'. It's true that some of my favourite photostreams feature work which has unwavering characteristics, whether that be in terms of aspect ratio, processing, tonality or subject matter. Such an approach can yield a uniform, highly individualistic and instantly recogniseable series of images - yet I sometimes wonder whether the artist feels bound by self-imposed rules. Does the dedicated landscapist ever want to shoot a still life? What does the rigid portrait specialist do if he feels like experimenting with macro?
I think what I'm getting at here (probably quite badly), is that I believe most of us reach a stage where we feel the need to... manufacture our own brand of photography. I use the words 'manufacture' and 'brand' quite deliberately, because they are as far removed from the creative process that drives this interest of ours as I can imagine.
Please don't think me naieve - I recognise there are many consistencies in my own work, and I'm not suggesting that this is necessarily a bad thing. For instance, I felt the urge to process this particular shot in black and white, as is perhaps most commonly my style. Yet recently I've been experimenting with colour again, and despite agonising for some time with a mono edit it's this version that I feel more comfortable with. Next week I might decide never to process a colour image again. But I suspect soon after I'll decide to have another go...
I believe that, sometimes, you can see ART "already" even if the piece is still not yet finished ;)

Finally my 14 day quarantine is up after returning from the UK... but nothing has really changed as we still have to self-isolate and not much is open. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon... I need a girls night out!
The weather has been cloudy to partly cloudy for a few weeks. This afternoon was relatively clear with a few small cumulus clouds passing by. I thought I'd try and use a Coronado PST solar telescope to image the sun today. I find this scope a challenge to focus and adjust the etalon. There's image shift because the focusing mechanism is a sloppy movable prism. The etalon is goofy and causes half of the sun to look good while the other half is blurry. It's still fun to use. Besides it is all I have for solar observing. The sun has been active as it approaches solar maximum. There is something new to see every day.
August 12, 2024; Coronado PST; ZWO ASI432MM; 2x Barlow. I was lazy and used Sharpcap’s live stacking feature to process the image.
The thermometer read 99F, so I didn't image for very long. Not only was I overheating, but my equipment was too!
