I love these birds. They make a sound like rusty scissors and love to hover while catching insects. Decided to share it despite the soft focus...

To all my flickr friends this is my New Years message to you all....A new year is a new beginning – a fresh start. It’s a time to reflect on the year gone by, as well as look forward to the year ahead.
I wish you and your family good health and great happiness in 2008.
Best wishes for a very happy New Year!

Harbingers of happiness, awake!
And dreams abandoned, return from restless sleep!
Past hopes, whom bitter wanderers forsake,
Promise once again what will might reap!
Years turn and turn, at each new turn reborn,
New imagined by redeemers new,
Each in turn vouchsafed a festive dawn,
Wind driven towards a sky of darker hue.
Yearning is of innocence a cause,
Embracing with delight what ought to be,
As once a year even truth takes pause,
Reflecting on what other eyes might see.

A model of the Bride from the Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. The model pre-dated the murder storyline, so I had to add the hatchet. The background is a lovely little graveyard in Guadalajara. A flame for the candle and a bit of dry ice fog, and there you go.
This cliff overlooks Little Hunter Beach which I prefer to call Pebble Beach as the entire area is covered with potato sized rocks that have been polish by the wave action.
The noise that is generated by the grinding of the stones is really something to hear up close. Check out my previous post for a video of the waves.
A couple dozen Northern Shovelers have been at Constitution Gardens all winter. They usually sleep till mid-morning and stay near the small island, but last week they were moving early and often, and most spread out away from the island.
I'm not sure, but the hawk (posted previously) may have made them uneasy. I doubt it was any danger to the Shovelers; it appeared to be after smaller prey.
View LARGE for the best look.

If possible, we should do all we can till the return of Jesus to spread his good news. In hopes that others will turn to him and his love. It is not a burden, but a joy that we are called to. Released from our bondage that we may not realize that we are in and given a new life.

One missed wedding but a new adventure.
Whilst still bummed about missing Kane's Wedding, I headed with Josh, Dave and Garry for an adventure to the Buderim Falls - then to Maroochydore to check out the surf, and then last stop at Wildhorse Mountain Lookout. A little steep of a climb for someone who is a little unfit like me - but very doable and worth the visit.
This gentleman appeared during the blue hour and stood still for Garry and I for a few seconds.
