8/29/2013. VFR resistors provide a variety of device configurations and ultra-high-precision specifications to help ensure the efficient and safe charging of Li-ion batteries. They include the surface-mount Z-Foil VCS1610Z and VCS1625ZP and the high-power VCS331Z and CSNG (offering 3- or 6-chip constructions).
A bank of large resistors used to control the field current of a large DC motor used to drive a good sized pump. At one time DC was preferred for speed control and torque characteristics at all speeds. Taken with a Sigma 10-20mm ultrawide angle lens.
This session was my first real surface mount soldering. It wasn't as hard as I'd worried once I got the technique down.
I'm still waiting on a couple of bags of capacitors, but I went ahead and started test-fitting the resistors. They're all 1/2-watt carbon comps, of course. Nothing (other than the sockets) is soldered in place yet. Wanna make sure there's no problem clearing capacitor girth before I set anything in stone. Still, this will be the testbed.

VPG has introduced a new series of ultra-high-precision Bulk Metal® Z1-Foil hybrid, surface-mount chip resistors connected using gold wire bonding. The HTH series is designed for high-temperature applications to +240°C and offers improved heat dissipation, providing nearly a 100 °C extension in operating temperature range over precision thin film chip resistors.
