a still life showing the parts of this contraption. it was strung together all crazy with wires last night when we tested it. Now to assemble it for real.
These are shots of all hte parts of a soft-circuitry touchpad that i am building. It "works" but is in no way complete.
Dan was really aHEAD of the competition with this costume. It was nice not to be the guy everyone flocked this year.
The base of this tree is the base of a computer mouse. The trunk is made from a cable which consisted of several wires sheathed in coloured plastic, all wrapped in a shield of fine wires (which become the thin twigs at the top). The rest of the roots and branches are thicker wires which also wrap the trunk and hold it in place. The catkins are resistors.
The lm555 based power supply being fed from 8.6V of battery power and powering a lamp at 126V.
The efficiency isn't perfect yet, mostly because the timing cap for the 555 and the inductor are from the scrap bin and not exactly the correct value.

There are the 4 resistors making up the voltage dividers to pull-up the D+/D- USB pins enabling the iPhone to enter charge mode.
Kinda hard to make out but there's clear heatshrink over the connections so nothing is shorting.
Added a resistor divider to get the voltage right for +4dbu (us) line level voltage.
I'm thinking about calling this the "NES active sound mod" instead of "prosound" mod since it doesn't use a balanced TRS audio output configuration. The reason I left it out is because the overall NES noise level from the sound chip is greater than any benefit TRS would normally provide, so its pointless to add really. Since the concensus on 8bc is that for something to be "pro" it needs to have a balanced TRS out I don't have any problem re-naming this "active sound mod" if thats a better description.

The VCS1625ZP ultra-high-precision Z-Foil surface-mount current sensing chip resistor is the industry’s first such device to combine a high power rating of 1 W at +70°C and low TCR of ±0.2 ppm/°C typical from -55°C to +125°C, +25°C ref. my v2.0 design runs on a 9v battery so is much more portable. It has a range of enhancements over v1.0
