I was playing with hubby's electronics again, and found a case full of resistors, so of course, I had to photograph them. For Slider Sunday, I've added a sky and water to make it look like some kind of handmade raft. Think you could resist taking a ride on this raft? :)
Each of the tiny ceramic resistors are 1/4" or 5mm long.

An old hard drive PCB with the connector wired to one lead of a transformer and the other dragged across the solder joints causing the components to short.
I must be watching too much Star Trek!
My husband ordered a bunch of electronic supplies online and when they arrived, I was almost as excited as he was, because they are so cool to photograph.
In case any of you couldn't tell by my title, these are called resistors.
A 16 character LCD display in all its 4-bit power. Powered by an Arduino One and connected to what is called a breadboard. The cables you see are needed, but the blue led was there just to fill an empty spot in the center of the image.
In theory, we should not see the darker squares. There is a potentiometer to the side (out of frame) that can be used to fix that. However, for the sake of the image, here I decided to leave them there.
Sure, the display may be a bit bigger than the coin, but the message will fit right in there and still have some extra space :)
(also, most components you see there are smaller than the coin, including the cables, the led and the two resistors almost completely out of focus)
Happy Monday everyone!
At times, reading the value of a resistor requires some skills, figuring out the meaning of the colored rings.
For example, Brown, Red, Green, Gold stands for 1, 2, 5 (5 zeroes), 10, that is: 1'200'000 Ohm or 1.2MΩ, with a tolerance of +/-10%.
For other parts, where place is not an issue, the value can be written in plain text.

Two gold bands on resistor R6. One indicating a 10x multiplier for combined count of the first two colors to get the ohms. The last indicates 1% tolerance in fluctuation. HFF #GB #CircuitBoard #macro #Makro
Five 10 ohm electrical resistors (you can read the value from the colours of the stripes if you know how, but it's also written on the paper tape holding the things together).
The image is about 2cm across and the purple background is a cotton hand towel. Taken with some new (to me at least) camera gear: a Fujinon ES 90mm f/4.5 enlarging lens at f/16 on a tilted and shifted Kopil Bellowsmat. The resistors were almost flat and the camera almost vertical, so I was testing this lens to the limit of tilt. It's not bad, but the lens does perform at its best head-on.
Hardly any PP, I've cropped the image and tweaked the levels.
For #MacroMondays and this week's theme #Stripes.
Happy Macro Monday!
Thanks for all your faves and comments everyone!
I really appreciate them!

Nothing political, just a standardized color code on a resistor indicating its resistance value and the percentage of variation in that value. Most resistors have four stripes; some may have a fifth stripe for additional data. A single black stripe (denoting, as oxymoronic as it might seem, a “resistor” without any resistance) is just jumper wire in a resistor-like package for special purposes.
On a typical resistor, the first two stripes indicate the significat digits, in this instance, brown for the digit one and black for the digit zero; to form the number 10. The third stripe multiplies the two significant digits by a power of 10 (1, 10, 100, 1,000, and so on) to arrive at the final figure; in this case, orange for 1,000 times 10, for a value of 10 kilohms, or 10,000 ohms. The red band indicates the tolerance, plus or minus two percent for this part.
The resistor body is about ¼" (6.35mm) long, the smallest item I have photographed in a while.

brown = 1
red = 2
black = number of 0's
gold = 5% tolerance
so : 12 ohm +/- 5%

This little Lavender beetle seemed to think it had found one of it's mates, but he should of resisted, as it was only a similar shaped electronic resistor, I should imagine it was a bit of a shock!
It may well of been if it was powered up though ..... Ha' ...Ha'

Topic: Inside Electronics.
HMM Everyone!!!!!
For this weeks Macro Mondays theme I have photographed a section of a car heater blower, this had burnt out, thus leaving my blower inoperative on my daily driver.
These resistors are what enables the speed to be altered fast or slow or off whichever settings you prefer.
On my 1996 Vauxhall Astra it's situated in a position where the elements can cause corrosion, I could smell burning one day whilst driving, and also noticed my heater wasn't working right, then discovered the problem, ordered a second hand unit from EBay for £25 and after a few scratches to my knuckles fixed the problem. 👍
This image does show how rusty it was, and why it needed replacement, but being 25 years old, it had served the car well really. 😁
To keep within the measurement requirements I could only use some of the item, but thought this section most interesting.
"The story so far"
From Transylvania too Bristol, via' .... Whitby, he came, searching for an unwilling blood donor, a tasty liquid lunch full of iron .... Mmm'
but unfortunately he had a mishap catching his long sharp teeth whilst practicing his biting technique ....
"Oh! dear" now that's terrible in a good way, and not terrible in a bad way, so it's really all good!
Probably ....
Hope so as I really don't want those rusty prongs anywhere near my neck! 😁
Love & Peace everyone! 💓

Happy now gone the pangs as vampire sinks his fangs, lap gurgle the red treat, left it like dried meat, silver bullet, cross you grab, avoid the vampey or be on the slab.

I love Transylvania, also its Romanian people and descendants, vampires are only a figment of people's imagination, but it does make for a fantastic horror movie, thanks, Bram Stoker for all the screams and blood curdling chills .... AWESOME! 😈
Just a little frightening verse for upcoming Halloween. 😈

This week's Macro Mondays effort on the theme of 'Inside electronics' saw me destroy an old Freesat box for electronic bits, with my phone displaying binary for the backdrop. HMM y'all!
MacroMonday theme Inside Electronics. Just so happens I was building a new Nelson Pass F5 Mosfet Power Amplifier (some here may know them) and had the two Power Supplies built and tested, so just powered one up and clicked this shot for this weeks theme!
I must add some of the finished amp images here too!
The reflection behind the LED is the side of a large Capacitor and I cleaned the dust as much as I could but it kept coming back onto it.
The image is about two inches by a little over an inch high!
Thank you for the views and favs and comments, in advance, always appreciated!
Electrical resistors are marked with colored rings. Therefore, the value of a resistor can be determined by means of a color code schema . Carbon film resistors usually have four colored rings. The first two rings describe the value of the resistor and the third ring a multiplier. The tolerance of the resistor is indicated by the fourth ring.
