6/17/2013. Vishay Precision Group, Inc. (NYSE: VPG) announces that its Vishay Foil Resistors brand (VFR) has released new ultra-high-precision Z-Foil power current sensing resistors for applications where rapid ΔR stabilization and resistance stability under transient power conditions are required.
Providing an environmental protection level above the current RoHS requirements, Vishay’s new RCG e3 is the industry’s first green, RoHS-compliant (without any exemptions) thick film rectangular chip resistor. (For hi-res version, select "View all sizes" from Actions pulldown menu above.)

Tin every connection! A thin coat of soldering paste (dipped) on the legs of the component helps the solder stick right on. You should see the tinned surface get a little bit shinier. This piece is just for demonstration - it's a little thicker than usual (can't fit through holes in the circuit board!) but makes for a better photo. Also you don't keep the whole length of wire on the ends, so tinning the very tips is kinda silly. Doing it for real, I get the first little bit that'll stick through the circuit board once it's stuck through.
The pliers are holding the right side - so I'd be working on the right side. 1 - using pliers/tweezers keeps the heat from quickly conducting to your finger, since small parts like this heat up fully quickly. 2 - clamping between the hot spot and the component keeps more fragile ones from overheating (like capacitors, some chips.)

VPG's Vishay Foil Resistors (VFR) brand has introduced a high-precision Z-Foil surface-mount current sensing chip resistor with low TCR of ±0.2 ppm/°C typical from -55°C to +125°C, +25°C ref., tolerances to ±0.5%, and load-life stability to ±0.015% at 70°C for 2,000 hours at rated power. Vishay Foil Resistors’ new VSMF series of surface mount chip resistors features flexible terminations to prevent cracking of the body and delamination from the board even in resistors with high length to width aspect ratios. VPG has introduced a new series of ultra-high-precision Bulk Metal® Z1-Foil hybrid, surface-mount chip resistors connected using gold wire bonding. The HTH series is designed for high-temperature applications to +240°C and offers improved heat dissipation, providing nearly a 100 °C extension in operating temperature range over precision thin film chip resistors. 11/19/2013. VPG's Vishay Foil Resistors brand (VFR) has released a new video that demonstrates the advantages of using Bulk Metal Foil® resistors in high-humidity environments.
Atwater Kent Model 20 No. 7570, 1925 Battery-operated, TRF (tuned radio frequency), standard broadcast band (AM only) radio with three-dial tuning.
Both wire-wound grid resistors were open. I awkwardly repaired both. The specification for the resistors was 600 ohms. After repair they were about 610 ohms.
