Red was a silly boy who loved to cram himself into small boxes and look cute. In fact, he was quite good at it.
Here's an image of a Red Shouldered Hawk. I took this today at Myakka River State Park. I saw this hawk sitting beside the road and when I stopped to take it's photo, it just flew away. I got out of the truck and followed it around to the tree in which it landed. This is hand held with the 70-200mm f 2.8 lens. A few minutes earlier, I was way back in the woods and I cranked the ISO up to 800. A little much for this shot, but I was so excited to see the bird, I forgot to turn the ISO back down.
I haven't photographed a hawk in a long time so...
I hope ya'll like it!

Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) Picture from the National Park De Hoge Veluwe, Netherlands.
The Red Deer is the largest land mammal in the Netherlands with the males standing 1070137 cm at the shoulder and weighing 90-190 kg. This was a superb evening!
A woman sits alone on the beach on a warm, hazy December day, interrupting the layers of nature with a punctuation of bright, bold red.
Photographed using a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 manual focus lens, processed in Lightroom with VSCO Film 04 presets, and mild iris blurring in Photoshop.
Another couple of red squirrel images from today.
It was such a pleasure being back among the Ancient Caledonian Pine trees which is always such a great place no matter the time of year, however the colours on display at the moment make it a magnificent sight.
To go alongside the swordfish. I originally was going to use a trans yellow head for the canopy, but it wasn't quite big enough, so I stuck a helmet over top of it.
Bebop and hammerhead to follow.

a continuation of trials (and errors) of this upside down wine shot called "wine not yet sppilled" or as Sally said, "hang over"
Today a bit better results, but still.........not that good. what i changed, mostly watering down the wine 1/4 wine to 3/4 water, you will see two shades of wine in this series, the darker one was 1/2 wine and 1/2 water, no good too dark! the other version is too light, have to be in between.
I really have to go get some new plexi glass or glass pieces for bases, as the foamboards just right away look too dirty and damaged once you touch them.
sorry i have only 1 setup shot, as tere were obvious 2 different set ups but forgot to take the other one.
This bird came gliding low to the ground over my left shoulder and across the lane to settle on a lawn right in front of me. It seemed to be looking for grubs or insects in the straw. A fellow resident of my community suggested that it's a Peregrin Falcon. I have serious doubts about that, but I am just an amateur. I considered the possibility of a Northern Harrier. However, that red tail I see plus general shape, sounds, and behavior led me to my conclusion. (I don't know about the eye color.) Any of the three IDs would please me because any of them represents a new species to add to my list of the species I've seen and photographed in my current neighborhood.
What do you think it is?

Weirdly I googled for infra red filter help and found this blog written by someone from the same town as me
Half of these guys were in rough shape when I bought them. I touched up the skull emblems on some, and used HISS Driver waists on others.

Red Tailed Buzzard (native to California and known as a Red Tailed Hawk in the US,) perched on its handlers glove at Chester Falconry Experience.
If you haven't been yet then I can highly recommend it. The displays (weather permitting) are incredible and fantastic for families, especially the Peregrine Falcon. I couldn't get over the speed of them. So fast that I gave up trying to capture it in flight and just marvelled at the grace and speed.
another sunset at the grand canyon shot, taken a little later than my previous attempt and bit more grainy - the sunlight gives more of a red hue, but less rock actually gets lit up. It's always a balance with sunset shots, early or late... (often early is better)
