Alfred "Red" was on the southeast corner of Illinois and Hubbard along with his friend KB. "I've been in jail a few times", he said and was frustrated with how he's been treated. "I hate it when people discriminate", he said. He's been out of his apartment, because he lost his key and it'll cost 65 dollars to get it back. "I might as well be homeless", as he shook his head, "and I smell like a banshee"
Back to my local squirrels for the last post from me for 2023. Hoping to have many more trips to see these guys over the winter.

‘EVERYDAY COMMON.’
Travel restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic have helped me focus on and appreciate the everyday common. There are many wildflower treasures to be found close to home, like this exquisite Red Dead Nettle flower.

We spent some time getting close to this rare shorebird in Barrow. It's fun to see occasional Asian species that have accidentally taken a wrong turn and ended up in Alaska for a short time during migration.

Some trees and garden shrubs mark the boundaries of former residential properties in the New Brighton Red Zone, one of several areas where earthquake induced liquefaction destroyed many thousands of homes in Christchurch, New Zealand. Affected properties have been replaced with grassland that is slowly being rebirthed into community parklands.

I had not seen the adults at this site for probably about ten days, then yesterday two juveniles appeared. Like the adults, they seemed to ignore me while I was photographing them.
A Red Legged HoneyCreeper at Laguna Del Lagarto in Costa Rica. A super place to visit if you're a bird photographer!
