For Macro Mondays theme Complementary Colours.
Crocosmia Red Lucifer (don't you just love that name) more commonly known as Montbretia. I have always adored it's striking red colour against it's vivid green, long and blade like leaves. I never knew it was part of the Iris Family.

Like everything Red Wattlebird's do, even nest building is a high speed operation.
While up in Ardnamurchan I'd heard about some areas not far from me that were supposedly good for spotting Red Deer. So I had a few trips out to go looking for them. Sure enough, they were there, and the scenery was stunning...
The hindwing underside of the Red Admiral has a subtle beauty, contrasting with the bright upperwings.
The red boat operates on the canals around The Waterfront in Cape Town. The tablecloth is covering most of Table Mountain.
The smallest rose bush in the garden produces wonderful red roses. Only about 4-5 flowers a year. I might move it and see what happens.

And one of my favorite trees in the entire valley is this old Red Maple (Acer rubrum ) up in the Pelham hills. Red Maples are one of the most common native maples here in the Northeastern part of the United States. This one is massive and very, very old standing alone at the edge of an old farm meadow where it enjoys full sun and no competition from other trees. And it turns these brilliant shades of scarlet every Autumn.
