Popped some leftover chicken outside earlier, and tempted a Red Kite or two down…the dullness of the day meant that I had to crank the ISO up…even so, I still didn’t put the shutter speed high enough to prevent some blur, but it was trying to not get much noise.

It was honestly frustrating trying to take these photos 😅 since my camera wasn’t focusing the way I wanted but also I am still learning how settings work so it was a bit of a skill issues. Regardless I am pleased with the photos and it was an experience I haven’t had before

I recently had the opportunity to see and photograph this loon it was the first time obtaining images. It had been injured but I understand it is recovering nicely.

Crocosmia Red Lucifer (don't you just love that name) more commonly known as Montbretia. I have always adored it's striking red colour against it's vivid green, long and blade like leaves. I never knew it was part of the Iris Family.

The Red-headed Woodpecker is one of only four North American woodpeckers known to store food, and it is the only one known to cover the stored food with wood or bark. It hides insects and seeds in cracks in wood, under bark, in fenceposts, and under roof shingles. Grasshoppers are regularly stored alive, but wedged into crevices so tightly that they cannot escape.
