Red Crested Turaco
From Fun Facts
Turacos are the only birds to possess actual red and green pigments in their feathers. The red pigment (turacin) and green pigment (turacoverdin) both contain copper. When you look at most birds, the color you perceive is a reflection produced by their feather structure.
These birds have highly mobile outer toes that can rotate forward or backward.
They use their long tails for balance and their feet are very good at gripping.
These birds produce a call that sounds like "go way" which is why they are often referred to as Go-Away Birds.
These birds have a beautiful red crest, which stands about 5 cm (2 in.) high when excited.

Sonnenaufgang über einer verträumten Knicklandschaft von Schleswig-Holstein. Die rote Färbung entsteht durch das Licht der aufgehenden Sonne im Nebeldunst.
Sunrise over a dreamy landscape of "Knicks" in Schleswig-Holstein. The red colouring is created by the light of the rising sun in the mist over the landscape.
In Schleswig-Holstein and Lower Saxony, the term "Knick" is used to describe wall-like hedges of trees and shrubs, which were created as early as the High and Late Middle Ages as land defences to fortify territories, and later also as "living fences".
A typical bend forms a relatively dense green "wall" of shrubs and isolated trees.
The rampart hedges along the path used to guide the animals during cattle drives and protect the adjacent fields against browsing or trampling by cattle.

The Red-Vented Bulbul is native to Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka, but has become a well-established invasive species in parts of the Middle East, various tropical Pacific islands, and is now appearing in limited numbers in the Houston Heights/Memorial areas. Although invasive, ultimately it seems that Bulbuls are not currently a threat. Photographed in Bayou Bend birding trail.
