How do we perceive "reality"? What is that finally gets to our eyes of it? How do we filter that reality and what is it that finally gets to our brain? That is homework for you to do!!
The Toei Kyoto Studio Park is a theme park located in the old Toei cinema studios. Visitors can walk freely in the film sets where period Japanese drama, called jidaigeki, where shot every year (up to 200 per year, according the park web site). Visitors can rent costumes (samurai, geisha, brigand...) and roam around the films sets recreating the Edo era (1603-1868). A city street is surprisingly cutting the park in half, creating a strange contrast between the fantasy world of cinema and the reality of simple public road.

We have had a few days of windy conditions and clouds, which makes interesting long-exposure photos. I tried my luck and went down to Key Biscayne to shoot a sunset. I got stuck in traffic and the drive took me so much longer than anticipated.
It was getting darker quickly when I finally got to my familiar spot. An older man was sitting in a chair smoking a cigar and enjoying the remaining light of the sunset. He suddenly said: "You just missed everything," while I was setting up. "It's all over!" he continued. "We'll see! Now that I'm seeing this I have something different in mind," I replied. "I think my reality perception might be different than yours. I wish you could see what this will look like when I'm done." We continued chatting for the next ten to fifteen minutes I spent shooting this scene. Afterwards it was really over.
If this would be my blog, I would post a view of what he was "seeing." Kind of a "before" and "after" viewing.
I shot this image for a combination of post production work using HDR and long-exposure. I wrote about this work in previous postings. The water was choppy and the foreground in total darkness. The cloud's movement was interesting. In this case the long exposure layer of the image was captured for about 200s at f/11. The HDR part was obtained from a 7-capture sequence ranging from -3 to +3 stops. All post work done in CS6.
