Well reality hit with a vengeance today. After a two week holiday hiatus it was back to the pool for a 90 minute aquafit session with none of the advertised fancy coffees after. Straight home for a Keurig drip. I did have a couple hazelnut vanilla pods in though so that was treat enough.
The photo is okay. The back-story is better. :-)
I was out walking with Jan on the day before Nyepi. Most of the local Hindu folks were making lots of noise and leaving offerings all over the place, and this puppy was snuffling through the piles to see if there was anything to eat...
I was trying to catch him lifting his face to look at me, when Jan stopped me. It turns out a little boy with his mother was trying to get away from the crowds because he needed to pee, and was too shy... so they walked around the corner, and she tried to get him to do his business at the edge of the path. In what would be just to the right of this frame. :-)
He was too shy for the locals, so some big foreign guy was - he thought - pointing a big camera at him to capture all the details. Sorry, buddy, and I didn't see a thing!
Cassidy, I only dis-configure you because I love you.
Interpret how you like. :] The more i look at this the more thoughts pop into my brain of what this could represent. I'm curious what you think of when you see it though, so do tell.
*If you're tagged, it's my way of saying goodbye because I won't be back until December. November 8th:)
I'm tired man, just so tired of the way someone could be really immature. I'm hanging in there though. I love school, it's just one person who I can't cope with. It gets to me, but I'm honestly trying not to say anything. I could say a lot, but I choose not to.
Joining Yearbook was the best decision I've ever made so far in High School, and my friends and I are joining TSA this year too, it looks EPIC. I'm pumped for a great rest of the year. All consisting of events, yearbook, friends, pictures, and A LOT more. The list could go on and on and on. I do have some not so good news. I'm isolating myself from Flickr until December. November 8th! I need to. I go on everyday, even if I don't upload, haha. And everyday I'm always thinking: "I NEED TO TAKE SOME GOOD PICTURES FOR MY STREAM!". And facebook, I deactivated my account about an hour ago. I'm taking a long break, because I need to concentrate on school, college applications, and yearbook. I don't know if anyone else has done yearbook, and how serious it is at your school....but it's pretty serious here. Okay, okay. Take care everyone, seriously. Have fun, take those inspiring photos that you all do and be safe. :D
P.s- My friend Jewelyn made a Flickr, I'd gladly appreciate if you would check out her very unique stream. Click this to see it! :]
*When I come back in December, I am having a print giveaway. :]
Slice of Reality is an art installation installed for the millennium celebration. It is located on the banks of the River Thames near the O2 stadium.
While there's safety in soft lighting and diffused focus, it's quite another matter when things are bright and sharp! It took me some time to post these pix, for a couple of reasons: they're unforgivingly revealing, and the relative lack of makeup leaves me feeling somewhat vulnerable. I've also wondered if somebody from my everyday world might stumble upon me here and put two and two (the "he" and the "she") together! But I suppose there would be good reason for them to be here in the first place, and besides, I keep telling myself I'm getting too old to care!
Another shot I managed to take in the village as we walked to make our way down to the Chambal River for our River Safari with the 500mm,capturing what to me was a real eye opener of the reality of Indias have nots. This young child caring for her sibling while standing barefoot in the street and but a child herself.
easy question: what is the reality that you see here?
the marionettes on the right, or their image reflected in the mirror?
or both?
or, maybe, none of them ?? actually this is just a picture, there aren't marionettes in front of you at all, just a screen... : )
so... what is reality and what is appearance?
this picture made me think about that. In my opinion reality is what we want to see (or to hear, or to feel). this means, we could get a different perspective of reality and see it in very different ways.
like the marionettes here: the reality itself did not change at all, we just realized that there can be other sides/perspectives of what we see (or hear or feel).
have you have ever had a discussion with someone because of different points of view? tipically in these discussiones both are convinced to "hold the reality",
to be on the right side.
if just one of the 2 persons involved would have considered that there can be "another" reality the discussion would have stopped immediatly :)
have a good day!

In one week we leave to go house hunting. It will be January. It will be Ohio. It will be painful. I will not be here.
Does our bodies shape our minds? Is the modern world scaled to the average size person? Do right-handed people see things differently than left-handed people? As a photographer all my cameras are designed for right-handed people and that sucks.
The above images were photos I haven’t been able to face until now, but I feel like they need to be seen.
Everyday I log on and scroll through my contacts and I see eating disorders romanticized.
I’m so tired of seeing the same pictures being posted. Here’s the reality of those images.
Those photographs of crouched females with every vertebrae showing through the skin of her back, clavicles deep enough to hold water, the patterned row of sternum bones on black and white chests.
This is the truth of that.
This is the reality.
This was me five months ago when I nearly died.
Outside of flickr, in the real world, this is what you’re romanticizing, this is what you’re supporting when you post those images.
There is nothing, I repeat nothing, beautiful about it. There is nothing beautiful about being a waif, a tragedy.
I wish you could all see that, but I suppose in the end you can’t unless it’s been you.
Just realize that those girls in those photos, the ones you so desperately want to be, they’re dying, they’re in more pain than you can possibly imagine, physically, mentally, emotionally.
There is nothing beautiful in that pain and certainly nothing worth idolizing.
….I just cannot emphasize that enough.
Realize what you’re really seeing and instead of wishing it was you, be thankful it’s not.
Why so?
For here I am in one of two swimming pools in my complex and given the working day, I mostly always have it to myself.
It ain't someome else ....... It me!
No one-piece swim suit or bikini. Just me .... being me and at the current temperatures of 38C for the past month or so, where else would I be.
Sometimes I am the real me and I have no problem with posting it.
As for the rest that won't show reality, I put that up to the fact they may not get the same big 'comment count' they have become accustomed to receiving.
Sadly, the vast majority will never ever show their real selves.
My neighbourhood, in BW. The cool cloud action in the background is courtesy of the Olympic Mountains. You can't see them, but the clouds have a way of hanging around them... ringing us. (For the record, our house is just outside the frame... to the right of that curve of beach about a third of the way up from the bottom).
Petite Wanderlings Poppet & her Garden Anthology
There is a simplicity in Poppet. This makes her very intimate. She is delicate, soft, pure. Magical. Profound.
The world that surrounds her is a dream filled with relevant things that open up a whole other world full of very important treasures and memories. In this world, everything narrates: the softness of the texture of her dress, Bambi’s company, a fence to look through, the grass to sit on, flowers to give water to, Figaro’s protection, butterflies to follow, books telling stories of imagination and reality, her inner world inside them. A bow, flowers, old buttons, a shinning pink heart, a golden key, a recently born little Bambi warmed in a wool, an egg. All simple, all quotidian. Every detail in Poppet’s Garden Anthology is turned into a space for meanings and life. It is a place of belonging.
Poppet is herself a storytelling. She speaks love, delicacy and magic. She is in peace with herself. Poppet is in some ways fragile and helpless, but she has little Figaro, her books, her Garden, and her imagination. And within herself lives the assurance of the love of her creator, Poppet knows she will always be in her heart.
I unveiled her delicacy and deepness slowly. Tears were in my eyes.
Dear Lisa, I thank you so much and forever for creating this beauty.
Poppet, Figaro Tompouce Von Pinktea and her Garden Anthology came to live with me in March 27, 2012.

haha this is out of my normal zone...
Magic of the clone tool!
well first indoor shot... i kinda like the turn out.. then in photoshop i started to mess arund a bit and came across the clone stamp.. and 4 eyes came along :)
The purpose behind this is that people of today we dont use our eyes to judge people, we use our ears and thoughts to categorize people outside of our normal social class. Societs makes people feel like crap, like the rudeness and drama is just reality and everyday living. But that shouldnt be reality at all. I personally find the word "reality" as an excuse to overpass our ridiculous behavior towards others. Not only teenagers but everyone as a whole. So in my eyes i think we should all just open our minds and accept things a lil differnt other than ourselves
i look at this and i get a little freaked out to tell you the truth hahah.
hope you dont mind it!
