Reality Distortion Field (RDF) is a term coined by Bud Tribble at Apple Computer in 1981, to describe company co-founder Steve Jobs' charisma and its effects on the developers working on the Macintosh project.

Tribble said that the term came from Star Trek.

Later the term has also been used to refer to perceptions of Job's keynote speeches (or "Stevenotes") by observers and devoted users of Apple computers and products.

The RDF was said by Andy Hertzfeld to be Steve Jobs' ability to convince himself and others to believe almost anything with a mix of charm, charisma, bravado, hyperbole, marketing, appeasement and persistence.

RDF was said to distort an audience's sense of proportion and scales of difficulties and made them believe that the task at hand was possible.

Another shot I managed to take in the village as we walked to make our way down to the Chambal River for our River Safari with the 500mm,capturing what to me was a real eye opener of the reality of Indias have nots. This young child caring for her sibling while standing barefoot in the street and but a child herself.

They are alone with their thoughts.

The difference between discontent and illusion

Is reality.

Cassidy, I only dis-configure you because I love you.

Interpret how you like. :] The more i look at this the more thoughts pop into my brain of what this could represent. I'm curious what you think of when you see it though, so do tell.

amalia turning into a doll....

While there's safety in soft lighting and diffused focus, it's quite another matter when things are bright and sharp! It took me some time to post these pix, for a couple of reasons: they're unforgivingly revealing, and the relative lack of makeup leaves me feeling somewhat vulnerable. I've also wondered if somebody from my everyday world might stumble upon me here and put two and two (the "he" and the "she") together! But I suppose there would be good reason for them to be here in the first place, and besides, I keep telling myself I'm getting too old to care!

The sunporch makes a perfect spot for my cat to watch some of Nature's reality tv.

The above images were photos I haven’t been able to face until now, but I feel like they need to be seen.

Everyday I log on and scroll through my contacts and I see eating disorders romanticized.

I’m so tired of seeing the same pictures being posted. Here’s the reality of those images.

Those photographs of crouched females with every vertebrae showing through the skin of her back, clavicles deep enough to hold water, the patterned row of sternum bones on black and white chests.

This is the truth of that.

This is the reality.

This was me five months ago when I nearly died.

Outside of flickr, in the real world, this is what you’re romanticizing, this is what you’re supporting when you post those images.

There is nothing, I repeat nothing, beautiful about it. There is nothing beautiful about being a waif, a tragedy.

I wish you could all see that, but I suppose in the end you can’t unless it’s been you.

Just realize that those girls in those photos, the ones you so desperately want to be, they’re dying, they’re in more pain than you can possibly imagine, physically, mentally, emotionally.

There is nothing beautiful in that pain and certainly nothing worth idolizing.

….I just cannot emphasize that enough.

Realize what you’re really seeing and instead of wishing it was you, be thankful it’s not.

One fine day augmented reality will help to reduce the 'suckage' of boring lectures.

Why so?

For here I am in one of two swimming pools in my complex and given the working day, I mostly always have it to myself.

It ain't someome else ....... It me!

No one-piece swim suit or bikini. Just me .... being me and at the current temperatures of 38C for the past month or so, where else would I be.

Sometimes I am the real me and I have no problem with posting it.

As for the rest that won't show reality, I put that up to the fact they may not get the same big 'comment count' they have become accustomed to receiving.

Sadly, the vast majority will never ever show their real selves.

In one week we leave to go house hunting. It will be January. It will be Ohio. It will be painful. I will not be here.

Another from work. I left home this morning with the thought of a foggy shot. I wasn't disappointed. Hope you enjoy.

Graz Art Museum, Austria - spacelab UK Peter Cook, Colin Fournier - 2003

The Kunsthaus Graz was built as part of the European Capital of Culture celebrations in 2003 and has since become an architectural landmark in Graz, Austria. Its exhibition program specializes in contemporary art of the last four decades. Its unusual form differs radically from conventional exhibition contexts, many of which maintain the traditions of the modernist "White Cube". The team of architects used an innovative stylistic idiom, known as blob architecture within the historical ambiance of Graz along the river Mur. Thus, the gigantic building affectionately called the "Friendly Alien" by its creators Peter Cook and Colin Fournier, in form and material, stands out consciously against the surrounding baroque roof landscape with its red clay roofing tiles, but nevertheless integrates the facade of the 1847 iron house.

Architecture, design, new media, internet art, film, and photography are united under one roof. Kunsthaus Graz was developed as an institution to stage international exhibitions of multidisciplinary, modern and contemporary art from the 1960s to the present day. It doesn't collect new pieces, it maintains no permanent exhibitions and has no research establishments. Its exclusive purpose is to present and procure contemporary art productions. Kunsthaus Graz implements an innovative concept, which offers various possibilities in its galleries to fulfil the high curatorial requirements of contemporary exhibitions.

The BIX Facade of the museum represents a singular fusion from architecture and New Media and is based on a concept of the Berliner architects realities:united. BIX, a name which consists of the words "Big" and "pixels" is the acrylic glass skin of the eastern side of the building toward the Mur and city center and represents an oversize urban screen, which serves as an instrument for artistic productions. BIX projects accompany different exhibitions and are not transported into the public area, also the direct environment is defined and shaped. Beyond that the "communicating outer skin" offers a possible drilling platform for art projects, which brings up for discussion the dialogue between media and area. 930 40Watt fluorescent rings are embedded in the 900 m2 outer skin, with the illumination level of each one being variable between 0 and 100%. Each light ring functions as a pixel, which can be served by a central computer. In this way they can be developed as roughly screened indications, texts and film sequences, which radiate far into the urban area and thus, the blue blister of Graz with a screen of immense size makes an art gallery.

"In coming to terms with the newly dead, I seem to have agitated the spirits of the long dead. They were stirring uneasily in their graves, demanding to be mourned as I had not mourned them when they were buried. I was plunged into retroactive grief for my father, and could no longer deny, though I still tried, the loss I'd suffered at the death of my mother... Was it possible... that one could mourn over losses that occurred more than half a century earlier?"

Magic of the clone tool!

well first indoor shot... i kinda like the turn out.. then in photoshop i started to mess arund a bit and came across the clone stamp.. and 4 eyes came along :)

The purpose behind this is that people of today we dont use our eyes to judge people, we use our ears and thoughts to categorize people outside of our normal social class. Societs makes people feel like crap, like the rudeness and drama is just reality and everyday living. But that shouldnt be reality at all. I personally find the word "reality" as an excuse to overpass our ridiculous behavior towards others. Not only teenagers but everyone as a whole. So in my eyes i think we should all just open our minds and accept things a lil differnt other than ourselves

i look at this and i get a little freaked out to tell you the truth hahah.

hope you dont mind it!

I used this for a school assignment and at first they didn't know it was a doll xD

I really want to take more photos like this<3

I could not resist this. And god spoke... American Indians say the owl is the messenger, probably because of the piercing eyes. However I'd say that the family name foretold an omen. Was Grace saddled with a burden (pur - mort) she could only carry for 24 years?

I have but half my genealogy project finished and made my way over to Longmont's Mountain View Cemetery to find some family plots. After some securing help and an initialed map, I headed back to the truck to wrap up my current assignment when I spotted this marker.
