On one of my first days in Namibia, as I was driving through the desert I saw this train approaching. As you don't really see a whole lot of vehicles in general, I pulled over and quickly grabbed my camera off the passenger seat and started shooting. The conductor gave me a friendly wave.

St Pancras Railway Station

Another photo from this awesome station, I really like this place and always thought about doing a panoramic photo of this station, I really hope this image does this station justice. You may notice the Olympic Rings, these were put up only back in March to mark the run-up to the Olympic games here in London next year. Apparently each ring is 20m wide and all of them weigh approx 2300kg!! So remember, its only 435 days to go to London 2012.

This photo was achieved by using two images and firstly importing them into a program called PTLens which fixes the lens distortion. I then used Photoshop Elements 9 to stitch them together and then reimported into Lightroom 3 for a bit of post processing.

Information

St Pancras railway station, also known as London St Pancras and since 2007 as St Pancras International is a central London railway terminus celebrated for its Victorian architecture. The Grade I listed building stands on Euston Road in St Pancras, London, between the British Library, King's Cross station and the Regent's Canal. It was opened in 1868 by the Midland Railway as the southern terminus of that company's Midland Main Line, which connected London with the East Midlands and Yorkshire. When it opened, the arched Barlow train shed was the largest single-span roof in the world.

After escaping planned demolition in the 1960s, the complex was renovated and expanded during the 2000s at a cost of £800 million with a ceremony attended by the Queen and extensive publicity introducing it as a public space. A security-sealed terminal area was constructed for Eurostar services to Continental Europe—via High Speed 1 and the Channel Tunnel—along with platforms for domestic connections to the north and south-east of England. The restored station houses fifteen platforms, a shopping centre and a bus station, in addition to London Underground services from King's Cross St Pancras tube station. St Pancras is owned by London and Continental Railways along with the adjacent urban regeneration area known as King's Cross Central. The redeveloped terminus has been described as "the world's most wonderful railway station".

Tonight was my first crack at night train photography. How did I do? I think they're a bit ordinary but not too bad.

On what is rumoured to be the final working of ex-Victorian C class locomotives in NSW, C509-C507-C506 combine to lead the "Stapo" train from Sandgate to Botany in Sydney. These locos are due to replaced by the two new Crawford's PHC class locomotives.

RhB Ge6/6 freight loco arrives at Domat/ems with the 08:21 service to Chur, which conveys freight wagons on the train. On the day in question, the previous service to Chur was cancelled, so there were more people on the platform, which was not ideal. This train was booked a freight loco at the time.
