On Thursday May 30, 2019, the Australian travel company Cruise Express began a six day rail tour through southern NSW and Victoria with a mix of heritage steam and diesel locomotives from each state. The tour was titled the "Great Southern Loop". Streamlined EMD 42103 hauled the first leg from Sydney to Goulburn, where 5917 steamer was attached for the second leg to Junee.
These photos show the two NSW locos combining to haul the train, numbered 9S03, south on a wicked and bitterly cold day.

BNSF #6039 heading into Seattle with its lights cutting through the heavy fog. On this evening the fog was so thick causing night conditions 1-2 hours before sunset. At only about 30-40 feet away, it was hard to see, because of the fog density, almost silent as well.
Never stand on or near active rail lines, that risk isn’t worth it!
Be smart and photography safely.

KTZ CKD6E-2033 passing through Otar on a short tripper run with a set of tanker cars. A nice example of everyday freight operations on Kazakhstan’s railway network and the reliability of the CKD6E locomotives.
Traffic on this line is always interesting: from heavy coal loads to intermodal freights, so catching a lighter tripper like this adds some variety.

United Technology Center (UTC) artist’s concept depicting possible Titan III/III-C solid rocket motor segments being assembled and prepared for transport & possible stacking.
The caption/description associated with the image, from the United Aircraft (UA) "1963 Pictorial Report":
"Assembly of the Titan IIIC, the Air Force's standardized space launch vehicle, will be carried out in facilities close to the launch site. Solid propellant, five-segment boosters, each delivering more than a million pounds of thrust, are being developed by United Technology Center. Here, aft closures and nozzles are mated as a first step in the rocket's construction. The aft closure-nozzle assembly (left) is ready for transfer to a nearby assembly building."
The superior, distinctive & detailed artwork is by none other than Ludwik Źiemba, who seems to have also been employed/contracted by UTC ca. 1962/63. Apparently/possibly concurrently with Lockheed Aircraft Company. Would that’ve been acceptable back then?
Excellent informative reading on the evolution & history of United Technology Corporation/Center:

The introduction of the new corporate identity for British Railways was part of the 'new age' of railway modernisation that as well as the massive closures and withdrawal programme that was given added impetus under the 'Beeching Report' also saw a more targeted investment programme than the earlier and utimately doomed 'Modernisation Programme' of the British Transport Commission. British Railways became British Rail and with it came the loss of the use of the Gill Sans typeface that had been primarily used since 1948 and a new logo designed by Gerry Barney of the Design Research Unit, the agency that oversaw the rebranding in great detail. This included the new Rail Alphabet designed by Margaret Clavert and Jock Kinneir who had also introduced the new Transport typeface to the nation as part of the overhaul of the UK's road signs under the Worboys Report.
As part of the marketing of this new corporate identity an exhibition was held at the Design Centre in London in January 1965. The poster and the accompanying leaflet.

Bermondsey Underground Station, London, England
I suppose that this is turning into a little mini series of Bermondsey Underground station. When I thought I had finished at the station and was ready to move on, I spotted this little detailing on the side the seat rails. I totally forgot about these and if I remember correctly that most of the Jubilee Line Extension stations had different versions of these, I will have to check these out. Anyway, I didn't have to wait to long for someone to walk down the platform. I have gone for a different composition on this on with lots of Bokeh, something that I don't normally do with my tube images.
Talking about Bokeh, I have managed to pick up a Minolta 100mm f2.8 Macro lens. I have mainly got it for a wedding that I have coming up in August to help with a few key shots but I am thinking about how I would incorporate it into my normal photography workflow, I have quite a few ideas and really looking forward to using it.

Information
Bermondsey tube station is a London Underground station. It is situated in the eastern part of Bermondsey in the London Borough of Southwark, and so also serves the western part of Rotherhithe.
The station itself was designed by Ian Ritchie Architects and was originally intended to have a multi-storey office building sitting on top. London Underground have yet to realise this second phase of the scheme.
It is on the Jubilee Line, having been built as part of the Jubilee Line Extension between London Bridge and Canada Water stations. It is notable for its extensive use of natural light. The main station entrance is situated on the south side of Jamaica Road. The station is in Travelcard Zone 2.
The station was opened on 17 September 1999.
Like its extension counterparts, Bermondsey station was designed with a futuristic style in mind by Ian Ritchie Architects. Extensively using natural light, it is built in both a cut-and-cover and tube design. The cut-and-cover section is supported by latticed concrete beams allowing light to penetrate to the platform level. The escalators down to this area are lined by flat concrete with a high ceiling to give a feeling of spaciousness. The bored section is encased with metal to keep in line the futuristic and metallic theme of the extension. As with all other deep level stations on the Jubilee Line Extension, Bermondsey station has platform edge doors for passenger safety and comfort.

Right going for a colour image upload today just for a change as last few uploads have been B&W, just fancied a change.
Went on a recent visit to Rome and just going through the images at the moment. Sadly I didn't get much chance to photo the underground stations but this is one that I got.
I did find that the Rome Metro doesn't appear to be that photogenic as the London Underground but I think I would have to go back to Rome to fully make that decision. Line A of the Metro is the newer and upgraded part of the Metro whereas the other Lines are a little run down with old trains however Rome is putting loads of money into upgrading the infrastructure of the other lines.
This HDR image was made from a single image by using Photomatix and then tweaked within Lightroom 4. I wanted to retain the noise to go for the gritty urban feel. I hope you like it.
On a change of subject I spent a short while last night sorting out my LPOTY entries which have to be in by the end of the week, anyone else entering this year?
I am also busy working on a my first ever Timelapse project which is steadily coming on well so hopefully get that uploaded soon.
Well that is all for now and hope you all have a great Monday :-).

Manzoni - Museo della Liberazione (formerly simply Manzoni) is an underground station on Line A of the Rome Metro inaugurated in 1980. It is situated under the crossing of viale Manzoni, via Emanuele Filiberto and via San Quintino, in Esquilino rione.
The station underwent extensive refurbishment from January 2006 to October 2007, when escalators and electrical, safety and communication systems were upgraded. During the works, archaeological remains were found, and this prolonged their duration. Upon reopening, the station was given the new name Manzoni - Museo della Liberazione.

A small booklet entitled "Petunjuk Perjalanan Kereta Api ", or Train Travel Guide, and issued by the relatively newly named Perusahaan Jawatan Kereta Api of Indonesia - known as PJKA, the Railway Service Corporation. It includes a map of the majority of the system as well as timetables for various routes along with adverts for some of the long distance trains that were 'sponsored' by advertisers.
The cover shows a diesel locomotive hauling a 'named' train, the Parahiyangan', that ran between Jakarta and Bandung. The timetable was issued in January/February 1973.

Southern Shorthaul Railroad's classic EMD streamliner quin, led by B61 "Bernie Baker" in the spectacular Streamliners 2016 livery, is seen completing the second leg of the transfer of 180 empty coal hoppers from Port Augusta (South Australia) to Bathurst and Raglan in NSW.
Almost an unofficial "Last Hurrah" for these magnificent Australian Bulldogs, they put on a great show, as they were chased and photographed by enthusiasts from three states and even a lucky photographer from the USA.
