View along the north side of the Chatsworth Street cutting showing the chambers cut in sandstone which were used as mess rooms and stables. Beyond the surviving abutment of the Moorish Arch can be seen. An iconic feature of early prints of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway.

On August 31, 2022 some members of the committee of the Merseyside Industrial Heritage Society were invited by Network Rail and the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Trust to Chatsworth Street Cutting at Edge Hill to view the remains of the Edge Hill Engine Station. The location adjacent to the site of the famous Moorish Arch where locomotives were attached to Manchester bound trains or detached from Liverpool bound trains. The site was once open to the public as part of the Rocket 150 Rail Train in 1980 but has since become very derelict and over grown again.
However, in August 2022 it was announced that this important site on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway has now been granted scheduled monument status by Historic England. It is hoped that in due course the historic features can once again be displayed to the public.

Here we see OBB locomotive 1144 220 working the late running 08:21 IC service from Innsbruck to Graz on the morning of the 19/2/25 with an interesting consist.
Due to the 60 minutes late running, the planned location for this capturing train needed to be changed, therefore opted for this spot instead. The train was captured passing through Hochfilzen, which was the only location on this line which had snow.
The return of loco-hauled passenger services to the Gotthard Bahn for a limited time only during the latter half of 2023.
Here we see top and tail SBB locomotives 460035 (front) and 460027 (rear) both powering round Wattinger Curve in Wassen on the north ramp of the Gotthard Bahn with what I believe to have been the 12:02 service from Lugano to Zurich (IC878) on the afternoon of the 21/8/23.
** For info, both freight and passenger trains were being diverted via the Gotthard Bahn on the day in question due to the closure of the GBT following a serious freight train derailment.

Having covered 1C15 for the 2nd day on the trot involving a 5am start and several miles of cycling due to being a non-driver, a desperate attempt was then made to find a spot to cover this train following the 1C15 disappointment.
Unfortunately this HST set in my humble opinion keeps being out on the wrong diagram to cover in the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire area before work (1C15 is the preferred train). For info, 43295 was up front the leading the HST to London.

Marienplatz U-Bahn Station, Munich, Germany
The 4th photo in my 'Conception Fabrication' mini project. Only very subtle this one compared to the original but can you see the thing that makes it conceptual? (apart from it being in colour but you may have to look closer).
I could have spent all night photographing this station, it was simply wonderful and very inspiring. I just love the bold and striking colours that most German U-Bahn systems have and of course they are very precise and efficient in there design so I wanted to try and reflect this in todays upload.
I am really enjoying doing these concept images, I hope you are too, would you like to see more or less of them? Please let me know.
Hope you all have a great Thursday!

Location Information
München Marienplatz is an important stop on the Munich S-Bahn and U-Bahn network, located under the square of the same name in Munich's city centre. The S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, S7 and S8 intersect with the U-Bahn lines U3 and U6. The station is one of the most frequently used stations in the network, with up to 24,400 people transferring and 8,000 passengers entering or exiting each hour. In 2007, 175,400 used the station daily on weekdays, including entries, exits and transfers.
In October 1966 construction was started, finishing in October 1971 as part of the new S-Bahn network for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Until early 2003 there were almost no further refurbishments done at the station. From 2003 to 2006, the platforms of the U-Bahn were widened to expand passenger capacity and were lifted by 4 cm to secure same-level boarding.
Under the Zweite Stammstrecke ("Second main line") tunnel project, Marienplatz station is to be connected to a second station further north, Marienhof, via the enlarged subway access tunnels on the fourth level.
