Here we see RhB locomotive 603 on the dull morning of the 23/2/20 waiting to work the 08:50 service from St Moritz to Landquart (RE1326), which I travelled on to Zernez.
Riding this locomotive was not part of the original plan for the day, but I saw the engine at Samedan on the empty coaching stock to St Moritz, so I caught up with it after doing an emergency leap at Pontresina instead of riding the DC Kroc to Ospizio.

A mixed-traffic locomotive designed by Sir William Stanier in 1934 ‘Black 5’s, as they were known by enthusiasts, totalled 842 by the time the last was built in 1951. Numbered 5212 by the LMS our engine was produced by Armstrong Whitworth at their works in Newcastle in 1935 and gained the British Railways number 45212 after nationalisation. The engine started life in Bradford and was withdrawn from Lostock Hall (Preston) in 1968 but not before having the distinction of heading the final steam-hauled revenue-earning service for British Railways on 4th August 1968.

A trial shot to see how it would turn out! Here we see 20189 (front) and 20048 (rear) working the late running 13:30 service from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth on the afternoon of the 20/5/23. The train was captured on the Bewdley side of Foley Tunnel.
First time of trying this shot on the outskirts of Dorfgastein and after a challenging climb up the embankment in the deep snow, OBB loco's 1144 074 (front) and 1016 025 (rear) were captured heading towards Villach and beyond on the afternoon of the 5/2/19 with a loaded intermodal freight.

It is true that the best camera you have is the one you have on you. Although I carry my Ricoh GRIII with me all the times a daily camera, often it is easy to get a photo with the camera on your phone and this was one.
I didn't have long to take it before the platform become busy or I lost the long light trails from the sun, timing was just right.
The light trails is my favourite part of the photo, often at certain times of the day or even year depending how low the sun is, it can shine perfectly at either end of the Station shed. When it shines through the glass and gaps it creates these lines which make for an interesting photo.
Hope you are having a great week so far!
Here we see preserved crocodile locomotive 1020.018 at a special photostop near Pfaffenschwendt, Austria on the afternoon of the 12/8/17 whilst enroute to Zell am See.
A new spot for lineside photography and a part of Austria only visited once before. Here we see a convoy of OBB Heritage locomotives which were 1144 009, 1144 254, 1144 069, 1144 288 (powering) and 1144 070 (powering). The loco's were captured passing through Eichberg from the Graz direction heading towards St Polten and beyond on the top tier of the line.
In the valley below, an intermodal heads towards St Polten just in front of the convoy of 1144s.

Canberra Rail Museum's mighty restored Beyer-Garratt is seen sweeping under the old highway bridge at North Goulburn NSW just a couple of kilometres from completing the last shuttle trip of the day in Goulburn.
It was a brilliant weekend of steam nostalgia, enjoyed by photographers and train riders alike. All trains were heavily patronised, a deserving result for the Museum operators and the train crews.
SBB Cargo Re482 loco no.482 013 runs light engine through the middle section of Wassen on the Gotthard route heading north towards Erstfeld during the afternoon of the 22/8/15
A brand new spot for lineside photography, which was a trial shot to see if one would work at this location.
Here we see RhB Ge4/4 1 locomotive 605 with the booked heritage stock including the open wagon working the 15:18 service from Davos Platz to Filisur on the hot afternoon of the 20/7/24. It was touch and go if this train would be in the sun following a day of sunny intervals and lots of clouds. The historic train was captured on the outskirts of Filisur.
* For information, the heritage trains are usually performed by the Crocodile locomotives 414 or 415, but these two engines are out of action currently on maintenance.
Here we see Colas Rail Freight locomotive 37175 propelling test train 3Z11 from High Marnham to Derby RTC on the afternoon of the 12/4/21

Here we see DB cargo locomotive 60092 heading north on the Down Slow with the 12:03 petroleum service from Westerleigh Puma DBC to Lindsey Oil Refinery. This train was booked to travel on the fast line, but got switched to the slow line making for a better shot :-)
After leaving Prague on an EC train, Usti nad Labem hl.n. was visited for 2 hours. Stood at the end of the platform, here we see CD Vectron 193293 arriving with the 07:41 from Kiel to Praha hl.n (EC379) on the bitterly cold unsettled afternoon of the 27/2/23.

With Austria, Germany and Switzerland suffering wet weather conditions and thunderstorms, it was time to travel east to find sunnier and drier climates. This spot had been visited in the winter and was the only place in Czech forecasted for sunny and dry conditions on the day in question, which only lasted for a few hours (the clouds are building in this image).
Anyway, here we see RegioJet Vectron 193206 crossing Peace Viaduct in Dolni Loucky with the diverted IC1033 from Prague MS to Wien Hbf on the morning of the 9/9/22

Thames Tunnel, London, England
Back to the Thames Tunnel for todays upload. I was simply in awe and wonder of this tunnel when I visited it during a tour last year. I really hope they do another this Easter but it does depend on if there is any Engineering Work on the line so they can close it, sadly I suspect it won't happen this year otherwise I would be booking tickets in a heartbeat!
What you are seeing here is the asymmetrical arches, very unconventional for a tunnel which is often circular or more oval in shape but its this asymmetrical nature that gives these tunnels its beauty. Brunel just didn't build something that is practical and can be used everyday but something that sends out a statement and something that can be admired, even to this day! The arches here in this image would have not originally looked like this, they would have been brick lined which I think would have been very impressive to see but from what I believe when renovating the tunnel the bricks were not in good shape after being derelict and unloved for many of year so they have to reinforce it with modern concrete. I suppose having darker brick meant you would have not been able to see more contrast between the arches but part of me feels I wanted to see it in its original design, its just the purist in me!

Location Information
The Thames Tunnel is an underwater tunnel, built beneath the River Thames in London, connecting Rotherhithe and Wapping. It measures 35 feet (11 m) wide by 20 feet (6 m) high and is 1,300 feet (396 m) long, running at a depth of 75 feet (23 m) below the river surface measured at high tide. It was the first tunnel known to have been constructed successfully underneath a navigable river and was built between 1825 and 1843 using Thomas Cochrane and Marc Isambard Brunel's newly invented tunnelling shield technology, by him and his son Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
The tunnel was originally designed for, but never used by, horse-drawn carriages. It now forms part of the London Overground railway network.

A brand new spot for lineside photography at the time of taking this image, which was accessed following a long walk in the heat from Strba station. Here we see ZSSK locomotive 350 017 working the 11:34 service from Kosice to Bratislava hl.n (IC522) on the very very hot afternoon of the 24/8/24.
The train was captured on the outskirts of Strba in the Tatra mountains. Unfortunately, the mountains were masked with human induced pollution on the day in question making them less visible than normal.
**please note I was stood on a small folding step stool to take this shot, which provided me with a little bit more height**
After dropping off the rolling stock at Derby off 1Z49, the two class 97s returned to Coleham, but this time they had an extra friend with them.
Here we see Colas Rail locomotives 37421 (front), 97303 (middle) and 97304 (rear) with the 12:10 light engine movement from Derby RTC to Coleham on the afternoon of the 4/4/21. The train was captured in Findern running as 0Z79.
This was a brand new spot for doing lineside photography at the time of taking this image. Here we see Lokomotion 151056 banking an intermodal freight train to Italy. For info, 193772 & 186442 were up front leading the freight train through this mountain landscape.
Here we see a former Belgium locomotive now owned by IDS Cargo numbered 365001, which was photographed crossing Peace Viaduct in Dolni Loucky on the 9/9/22. Unfortunately, I did not see or capture any IDS Cargo engines working freight during daylight hours whilst visiting Czech Republic :-(
First time of trying this side of the bridge in Ruzin at the time of taking this image. Here we see ZSSK Skoda locomotives 350015 (front) and 361 106 (rear) with the late running 07:27 service from Bratislava hl.n to Kosice on the hot morning of the 25/8/24. The train was captured passing through Ruzin, Slovakia.
With the forecast of full sunshine, I duly popped to this spot to cover the AM and PM opportunities. But the valley was covered in fog, which cleared about 30mins after taking this shot. (patience was the key lesson of the day)
Anyway, here we see Lokomotion engines 193773 (front) and 186442 (rear) pass through Langkampfen heading towards Worgl and beyond with a loaded intermodal train. This was my first time of capturing 193773 too.
Here we see Akiem Traxx locomotive 186361 cross Peace Viaduct in Dolni Loucky with a set of aggregate wagons on the morning of the 9/9/22 enroute towards Brno and beyond.
