FP4+ negative developed in Pyrocat-HD. Mike Ware “new” cyanotype on Arches hot press watercolor paper.

I read somewhere that the new Cyanotype exhibited longer tonal range. That may be so - but so far I’m finding very low contrast / minimal range negatives are faring better. Could be I’m not nailing the exposure, and/or that I’m doing something wrong in the processing/clearing.

From 'A Process of Reclamation' An ongoing series investigating Natures reclaiming of the Slate Quarries of the English Lake district.

On my way back from a business appointment in Indiana, I was driving along US-30 right near the OH/IN border and just had to find a place to stop and capture the one good thing amongst the boring flat land. If you've never been there before, there are 50+ wind turbines there, all positioned just right to catch the best of the wind even on a slightly windy day. They're also so far spaced apart that it's nearly impossible to tell from the highway at 70mph. >__<

Red filters and fast shutter speeds typically don't reside in the same sentence, but I did the best I could to "freeze" the turbines while gaining the most drama from the blue skies.

It's been quite a while since there were holiday pictures in this household. As the Christmas Eve snow started to blanket the ground, I rounded up Lauren and the dogs for a quick studio portrait session. You can check out the behind the scenes here:

Some mornings shooting landscapes are more productive than others. There will be times where you put in all your hard work, show up, and there's just nothing waiting for you on the other side of the camera. Other times, you'll feel like you're walking onto a set, and all you have to do is press the shutter release. On a dreary morning earlier this past May, the latter happened.

My film shooting buddy Matt Gagle and I took a trip down to Hocking Hills, only to be poured on for about three hours. When the rain settled for a bit, we made our way from Old Man's Cave to Cedar Falls. Matt saw some excellent light filtering in, and we both bee-lined for the shot.
