Took another early morning trip, this time to Blackhand Gorge in Licking County, Ohio. Normally I would visit here for the gorge overlook, cool rock faces, and flowing water. When I arrived, the fog was calling my name!
I made a video about the trip you can watch here:

The City cleared out some branches on the cherry trees in front of our balcony. yes a better view of the street. Now if they only could bury the power and phone cables too. Though that would affect the squirrels who use them as a highway.

A shot on a film with a well known atrocious reciprocity failure. A bug which turns into a feature when extremely long exposure times are not a problem, but the aim :)

I wasn’t planning to post this photo, but while scrolling through my scans, I realised that the car’s number plate has ‘SLX’. Coincidentally, the photo was also taken with an SLX Rollei camera. So be it.

An exercise in lexicography, too wide for either I think really but surely not a road, no indeed it is Calkeld Lane
Not bad if that is your drive to work. The National trust for Scotland owns the Balmacara Estate and a better job of free access they do than the English equivalent.

I've shot this one many times to test various films/developers...
Photographed August 2018 / Praktica FX 35mm SLR with Carl Zeiss prism attachment & Meyer Optik Gorlitz 'Lydith' 30mm/3.5. Film was KENTMERE 400 bulk stock metered at ASA 320 developed in PYROCAT-HD (5ml A + 25ml B > 600mml, 7mln @ 20*C). Negative was digitalised in a JUMBL high resolution scanner box; image was processed & finished in Flickr.
It has been quite a while since I've posted here, laying fallow and all that. There is still much to explore and think about, places to find, inside and out.
This is in a south bay park, Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve in the foothills to the south of San Jose.
Three weeks in a row of heading out the the field and I couldn't be happier! Today's field trip was down to Ash Cave in the Hocking Hills. An easygoing hike with some killer sights, it was hard choosing a few a of my favorite pictures made that morning.
There's also a video detailing the trip you can watch here:

A very contrasty scene: the dark portion of the upper garden wall metered at EV 8; the collapsed cardboard box in full sun metered at EV 14.7; the sunbursts, obviously, much higher still. This called for at least N-2 development; the midtones feel a bit muddy to me, but it did handle the highlights and shadows nicely.
I'm also pleased with the lens so far - seems nicely sharp, with minimal falloff at the edges.
