Typical Amsterdam houses reflected in a puddle. This is a twin shot of one of my first wicked reflections ever, taken almost 2 years ago, and at the same time one of my most successful pictures so far, it was printed in the local magazine NL20 together with an interview with yours truly :))

I was really lucky yesterday, in between the hail&snow showers the sun kept poppin' up, allowing me to capture some of my favorite Amsterdam spots with my real cam, lucky me :)

Just some Buildings reflected in a Puddle in Amsterdam

My favourite kind of weather - when the sun comes out after the rain - great for puddle reflections! This caught my eye on the way to work this morning - St Mary Aldermary church reflected in lots of mini puddles on the pavement. Got a couple of reflection shots up on the highwalk too :)

Busy day at work, with an initially very frustrating then very constructive meeting this afternoon. Quite a busy evening too, cooking dinner, taking in an Ocado delivery and attempting to catch up on my photos (as ever).

Try to figure out which Side is the Reflection ;-)

decided to play around with some HDR processing on some old shots...this frame i originally posted some time ago and really loved the cloud coverage and the puddle reflections, so when i HDR'd this one, i decided to play with the sliders a bit more than usual and came up with this one...i tend to lean towards a more natural looking HDR with my images but this one i think came out a bit cool...pls. I hope you're having a good start into the new week, keep in mind, getting out of bed was the hardest part, have another coffee and you'll be alright, almost weekend ;-D

after the rain there was a glimpse of sun breaking through the clouds, marvelously mirrored in the puddle

Finally, I've published my first book with wicked reflections, this is the cover, yay :-))))

I've been working on this for a while (using the Blurb software), changing pictures around, adding new ones, kicking old ones out...and then it was done :)

The idea was to go for the cheapest version (9,95 euros) but somehow the format of the book changed during the editing process and became a 14,95 euro book, which I thought was a bit steep, but seems modest after all, compared to the prices of all the other funky people on the Blurb site. I am not actually making any money if you buy a copy, you pay only for the cost of printing&delivery, the same goes for all the items in the AmsterS@m Shop!

I will order a copy in the next days to find out what this whole thing looks like in reality, I'll post pictures as soon as I get it :)

Have a relaxed Sunday!

A church in a foreign country, reflected in a puddle...

Me& a couple of million of Dutch people went to a foreign, neighboring country with a slightly different approach towards Christmas last weekend and it was very nice, lots of food that you can't buy in the Netherlands and tons of new smells, sights&sounds (well, the sounds not so much, Dutch was spoken almost anywhere in the streets, it almost felt like being at home far away from the best city in the world) :))

P.s. If you have really good eyes, you can see three cages hanging just above the big clock on the church tower, three dead Dutchmen were kept in there some centuries ago because they had the fabulous idea of imposing their own idea of the 'New Jerusalem' on the poor inhabitants of this city in a foreign country...

Once the locals had enough of listening to the arguments of the Dutchies why this was such a good idea, they took giant hot pliers and slowly tore them apart&into little pieces, then they hung what was left of their bodies into those cages, as a warning to the rest of us to come and bring $$$ to support their economy, but leave our strong convictions at home where they belong...people can be seriously wicked ;-))

Tourists outside the 'Hotel de L'Europe' reflected in a puddle.

One of the girls is reading her Amsterdam map to make sure that she safely guides the group towards the nearest tourist attraction, and we do have a lot of them, so it's good to have somebody like her with you when you visit the best city in the world...

Some people have come here and never found their way out of the labyrinth of shady alleys, dark backyards and smoke-filled rooms again, they will be dearly missed by their loved ones ;-)

BoSi himself, reflected in a puddle on Utrechtsestraat :)

Melbourne, Australia

"Constructed between 1912 and 1915, Princes Pier is of architectural and historic significance as a largely intact, rare surviving waterfront complex of structures dating from the early twentieth century and the second largest timber piled wharf structure in Australia. The gatehouse and barriers, terminal building, amenities rooms, good lockers, ablution blocks, railway sidings and passenger gangway tracks are integral to its significance.

Princes Pier is of historic significance, reflecting a critical period in Melbourne's maritime history. It is able to provide important evidence of the activities of the Melbourne Harbour Trust Commissioners during the period 1912 to the 1930s, in their quest to ensure that the Port of Melbourne could accommodate the largest vessel in the international trade. It is also evidence of their adoption of a distinctive system for the handling of overseas cargo and passengers on a large scale, the workings of which are visible today.

Princes Pier has a long association with Australia's military history, through its use as the site of embarkation for Australian troops in the First and Second World Wars and as an arrival point for United States troops during the Second World War. From the time of its completion in 1915 until 1969 it was also a major point at which many migrants, particularly during the post-war period, arrived in Australia and is therefore significant to the development of a multi-cultural society in Australia."

Fahan Hill reflected in a Puddle.

Biking girl (on the phone) and buildings in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle.

I might have said this somewhere before, but for some reason the Amsterdam girls can outbike almost anybody (and look really pretty&cool while doing so!), I bet even Lance Armstrong in his better years would have had problems keeping up with them...

It's probably simply that because of their healthy Farmers-daughters-genepool&good food (cheese!) they have strong legs, and that's fine, leave me in your dust cloud...but what adds to the humiliation is that they're ALWAYS on the phone when they swoosh by, while you're fighting against the wind (that for some strange reason is in your face whichever direction you go, I've seen people coming from the opposite direction, yet struggling against the same wind as me!!), it's just not fair!

Maybe they have their personal trainers on the phone that whisper high-speed-biking secrets into their well-shaped ears ;-))

This one is growing on me. (: Its another India Holiday Snap.

several people ran up to take this shot immediately after me, which was both flattering and annoying. Obviously they didnt get my little brother in it though, so HAH.

yeah you had to wear the funny elf slippers while you where there, dont ask me why. (:

My daughter Lucia, having a splashing time..

This is a statue, erected for some brave man or woman (yeah, it's probably a woman :), reflected in a puddle...in the background you see a tourist boat ticket sales booth :)

Here's a twin shot one year later!

Tram and a bike Speedracer, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam.

These guys (and in the last years also more and more girls) that swoosh through the best city in the world, wearing ultra-tigh, neon-colored Spandex panties scare the living daylights out of me.

They just look so sausage-like and overdressed for the deed that I always want to stop them and pet their heads, clearly these people were lacking TLC in their childhood and now they're overcompensating this by wearing the most hilarious, inappropriate clothes imaginable.

Or are they really just trying to be at work those few minute earlier than the rest of us?! Nah, there's gotta be more to it ;-))

The Magna Plaza in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle...I'm a bit embarrassed to post this picture, it's already the 3rd time that I upload this identical shot, even though all 3 were taken on 3 different days over the period of 1 1/2 years...but then again, I just loooove this building and the wicked way it looks in a puddle, sorry ;-P

Here's shot Nr 1 and this is the 2nd version :)

A couple of boats on the pier reflected in rain water.

Last Friday there was a break in the bad weather with some sunshine and blue skies. I grabbed the camera and headed out to Ardington - a local village - for a walk around. The rain here in South Oxfordshire has been pretty bad this year, and I found a good part of the village subject to large puddles. In some cases, road-sized puddles. A large number of properties had small lakes in their gardens. I see from the weather forecast that we are due more storms this week, especially on Friday, when the worst one yet is due to 'hit'. I'm very thankful that our house is nowhere near local waterways.

My entry for No.3 - Rain, in 52 in 2014.

Bikes, a tram and the world's biggest TV on the Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle.

I kept starring at this really messy shot and could not think of a cool title, so I looked at my book shelf and saw this Hunter S. Thompson book called 'Kingdom of fear' and I liked that, hence the title that is completely unrelated to the actual picture...is that laziness or creativity?!

Anyway, it's Friday, it's -8 Celsius and the sun is shining in the best city in the world, what more could you ask for?!

Have a great, wicked, cool weekend, take care but take it easy :))

This is the official 'Amsterdam City Christmas Tree' and the royal palace on the Dam square, reflected in a puddle...here's a non-reflected version that I've uploaded to the local news site 'AT5'!

It is a major challenge every year to make the tree arrive on time and stay erect during the Christmas period, it seems that we are jinxed when it comes to having the dark days illuminated by some pretty, harmless lights ;-))

Lady on a bike passing through my panorama puddle shot...she did not really have a bubble butt as far as I can see but I liked the ring of the title with all the bubbly 'B's, sorry ;-P

Edited with Picnik.

P.s. Did you notice the pair of shoes hanging from the power lines?! I would not recommend walking around barefoot at this time of the year, at least not when you're living in the best city in the world :)
