Lady on a bike passing through my panorama puddle shot...she did not really have a bubble butt as far as I can see but I liked the ring of the title with all the bubbly 'B's, sorry ;-P

Edited with Picnik.

P.s. Did you notice the pair of shoes hanging from the power lines?! I would not recommend walking around barefoot at this time of the year, at least not when you're living in the best city in the world :)

Melbourne, Australia

"Constructed between 1912 and 1915, Princes Pier is of architectural and historic significance as a largely intact, rare surviving waterfront complex of structures dating from the early twentieth century and the second largest timber piled wharf structure in Australia. The gatehouse and barriers, terminal building, amenities rooms, good lockers, ablution blocks, railway sidings and passenger gangway tracks are integral to its significance.

Princes Pier is of historic significance, reflecting a critical period in Melbourne's maritime history. It is able to provide important evidence of the activities of the Melbourne Harbour Trust Commissioners during the period 1912 to the 1930s, in their quest to ensure that the Port of Melbourne could accommodate the largest vessel in the international trade. It is also evidence of their adoption of a distinctive system for the handling of overseas cargo and passengers on a large scale, the workings of which are visible today.

Princes Pier has a long association with Australia's military history, through its use as the site of embarkation for Australian troops in the First and Second World Wars and as an arrival point for United States troops during the Second World War. From the time of its completion in 1915 until 1969 it was also a major point at which many migrants, particularly during the post-war period, arrived in Australia and is therefore significant to the development of a multi-cultural society in Australia."

A picture of a rainy day puddle that has a lamp post reflection

Voronezh is a city and the administrative centre of Voronezh Oblast in southwestern Russia straddling the Voronezh River, located 12 kilometers (7.5 mi) from where it flows into the Don River. The city sits on the Southeastern Railway, which connects western Russia with the Urals and Siberia, the Caucasus and Ukraine, and the M4 highway (Moscow–Voronezh–Rostov-on-Don–Novorossiysk). In recent years the city has experienced rapid population growth, rising in 2021 to 1,057,681, up from 889,680 recorded in the 2010 Census, making it the 14th-most populous city in the country.

From 10 to 17 September 2011, Voronezh celebrated its 425th anniversary. The anniversary of the city was given the status of a federal scale celebration that helped attract large investments from the federal and regional budgets for development.

On December 17, 2012, Voronezh became the fifteenth city in Russia with a population of over one million people.

Today Voronezh is the economic, industrial, cultural, and scientific center of the Central Black Earth Region. As part of the annual tradition in the Russian city of Voronezh, every winter the main city square is thematically drawn around a classic literature. In 2020, the city was decorated using the motifs from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. In the year of 2021, the architects drew inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen as well as the animation classic The Snow Queen from the Soviet Union. The fairy tale replica city will feature the houses of Kai and Gerda, the palace of the snow queen, an ice rink, and illumination.

Another image from the tour of The Portland Company facilities. This one is outside Building One and is of one of the large windows that appears to have been repaired at various times over the years without too much attention to matching the glass panes. The snow on the roof was melting and the runoff formed this puddle that gave a nice reflection of the window.

The Portland Company is a nine acre industrial site with a commanding location on the eastern end of the waterfront. It was established in 1846 as a locomotive foundry to build railroad equipment for the connection between Portland and Montreal. It was a significant New England medium to heavy steel fabricator until 1978. It had a proud history of serving New England manufacturer's and utilities while building 628 locomotives 160 ships (including Iron Clads), equipment for the Panama Canal and so on. Presently the site has become a marine oriented complex with a small marina, several marine as well as other office tenants and an operating Maine two-foot narrow gauge railroad museum. (Company web site)

Constructed in 1936 to the design of Public Works Department architect Percy Everett.

Following the closure of the hospital in 1995, this wing was converted into the Linaker Art Deco Hotel.

A different take to the popular theme on social media in which people post their old images, mostly featuring themselves.

So here I am posting an old capture of a popular spot. Nothing much in the shot though. It's a 4 years old shot taken on a very dull grey afternoon. The colors were just meh. There was such less latitude, I could barely process the image 4 years back and had canned it. Now, after 4 years, LR 5 finally helped me immensely with the image and I was able to process it to bring out the hint of colors without overdoing any part of it. It seems almost unedited and I love it.

What do you think?

Typical Amsterdam buildings, bikes and an approaching car, all reflected in one of Amsterdam's trademark dirt puddles by the side of the road...

I've realized today that sometimes, I don't like Mondays, and this happens to be one of those unlikeable ones...luckily I am holed up in La Casa AmsterS@m with lots of coffee&ciggies, but I think it looks pretty bleak outside, probably very much like in this picture :)

This shot is slightly touched up with ThumbsPlus, or rather, I've drained the colors out of it with that little helper, otherwise no tricks, no Photoshop, just good old Mobie doing his wicked thing :)

If you're bored or snowed in, here are the lyrics of the song 'I don't like Mondays' :)

The silicon chip inside her head

Gets switched to overload

And nobody's gonna go to school today

She's going to make them stay at home

And daddy doesn't understand it

He always said she was as good as gold

And he can see no reason

Cos there are no reasons

What reason do you need to be shown

Tell me why

I don't like Mondays

I want to shoot

The whole day down

The telex machine is kept so clean

As it types to a waiting world

And mother feels so shocked

Father's world is rocked

And their thoughts turn to

Their own little girl

Sweet 16 ain't that peachy keen

No, it ain't so neat to admit defeat

They can see no reasons

Cos there are no reasons

What reason do you need to be shown

Tell me why

I don't like Mondays

I want to shoot

The whole day down

All the playings stopped in the playground now

She wants to play with her toys a while

And school's out early and soon we'll be learning

And the lesson today is how to die

And then the bullhorn crackles

And the captain crackles

With the problems and the how's and why's

And he can see no reasons

Cos there are no reasons

What reason do you need to die

The silicon chip ...

Tell me why

I don't like Mondays

I want to shoot

The whole day down

Puddle reflection of a biker in front of the Royal palace on the Dam square in Amsterdam.

I've added a bit of contrast&saturation to this shot, but otherwise it is just another wicked mobile phone reflection, no Photoshop, no tricks :)

I like the way the stones are sticking out of the puddle, looking a bit as if they're more than just ordinary rocks, stealing the focus from the proud palace and the confused girl on her bike, trying to figure out what that madman is doing to the poor puddle so early in the morning in the best city in the world :))

It's a beautiful, sunny Spring day in Amsterdam today, go and have a great day, take care but take it easy!

P.s. I did not win in the lotto drawing last night, even though so many of you wished me luck (thanks again!)...let's try again next week or so :))

Biker&buildings, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam.

This biker is a typical specimen/woman of us proud, proactive Amsterdammers, we bike through the toughest Winters, we pass&ignore hundreds of pretty Prostitutes sitting in their windows, waving their merchandise at us and we smash into the ever-present&stoned tourists when they stumble into our path on a daily basis, while all we want to do is bike home and chill out on the couch!

One personal piece of advise for all the visitors to Amsterdam: If you hear the 'Bell-of-death' playing her old song in your back, jump aside and save both of us ugly scenes in our beloved streets in the best city in the world ;-P

A change of lens 16-35mm and the red sunset was turning pink/purple.

Last week, I was huddled under an awning and ended up chatting with a local DC photographer while it poured. One thing we talked about was puddles. While I'm not sure I accomplished what was deemed necessary for a puddle shot, I've been thinking about them a lot more lately...

Buildings in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle.

I totally love this building, it's so pretty and has an angel on top and lots of little poky things sticking out...besides that, it looks really fine in a puddle, too :))

Enjoy your weekend, and if you find the time, go and tell somebody you like that you appreciate him/her being part of your life :)

P.s. I've finally finished my first book with wicked reflections!!

Building&biker, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam.

The lady on the bike is looking a bit confused, it seems that it's her first wicked reflection and she does not understand the principle yet ;-)

As usual, no Photoshop or tricks, just me, my mobile and a puddle (and some added contrast and saturation)!

I've created a shirt with this picture, yay :))
